Duluth hockey fans warned after racist chants

Re: Duluth hockey fans warned after racist chants

Who's "anti-white"?

So, if you are disgusted with people using "smallpox blanket" in a chant at a hockey game, you're "anti-white"?

Wow, just wow.

I haven't said a word about the chants. Which is up to your customary standards. Frankly, college kids being crude, disrespectful and over the line at sporting events doesn't come as much of a surprise, in this case or any other. it is certainly true that some folks rights not to be offended take precedence over everything else. For the record, I don't like the cheers.

The smallpox blanket story is a cherished part of the anti-white catechism, as we see from you and others.

But frankly, I was shocked that you actually seemed to believe that Ward Churchill was the origin of the smallpox blanket thing. Regardless of whether they were used, or whether germ warfare in general was used, the idea of it most certainly did not start ten years ago.

Exactly.

Re: Duluth hockey fans warned after racist chants

People don't choose their race. UND chose the name.

HOWEVER, the "no name, no chants" logic is still ridiculous.

The logic that I've been hearing is that Duluth fans cannot control themselves when a team comes in with a Native American logo. Using that same logic, I presented that question.

The players that wore the Sioux uniforms did not choose the school's nickname. Why chant racist slurs at the players when they did not choose the nickname? Do they shout racial slurs when African-Americans walk by?

They did choose to go to that school, however, knowing the nickname of said school.

The "NNNC" argument is still insane and pathetic.

Re: Duluth hockey fans warned after racist chants

And I have no white guilt. I am neither proud nor ashamed of my white skin. I did nothing to get it, either positive or negative. It is neither good nor bad, it just is. I feel no guilt over it, and I feel no pride in it. What I do know is that early American history is full of incidents of the US government going out of their way to exterminate the natives. They failed. But to say that they tried is not a lie. I wonder why it is that you acuse me of being anti-white. Is it so hard for you to criticize the behavior of people to whom you have no connection whatsoever other than skin color and national origin? There are many many white Americans that I think are terrible people. (You, for the record, are not one of them) Does this make me anti-white? Am I anti-white because I believe the large amount of documented evidence showing that for quite some time both the British and American government actively tried to wipe out an entire race of people? Or is it simpler? Am I anti-white because I am liberal and all liberals must be anti-white.

And yes, I do like starting **** with you; you're fun to argue with. But frankly, I was shocked that you actually seemed to believe that Ward Churchill was the origin of the smallpox blanket thing. Regardless of whether they were used, or whether germ warfare in general was used, the idea of it most certainly did not start ten years ago.

Just as the origins of "Jack and the Beanstalk" may be of interest to scholars, but not me. It is also irrelevant to me whether Churchill was first or 101st to spread this lie. It's a lie. And he was probably the highest profile person so spread it, in about a half a dozen publications and articles, which ultimately cost him his cushy job (for which he was not qualified).

Maybe tUMD students can break out the "We respect you" and "If you've had fun you've won!" cheers.

I don't see anyone saying the "smallpox blanket" chant is harmless, Old Pio is just pointing out that it its based on false information.
