Div-3 Hockey 2011-2012

Re: Div-3 Hockey 2011-2012

Do any D3 schools have their games broadcasted or web-casted?

Elmira webcast's both it's Men's and Women's home games via Fasthockey.com with a cost of $6.99 USF per game. Last year they upgraded to play-by-play and pre-recorded intermission interviews with players and coaches. I suppose the $6.99 deters some from not viewing however I do know that it is used extensively throughout the year by EC parents, family and friends who are too far away to get to every game.

FastHockey without play-by-play is glorified home video. If the announcers are decent $6.99 is reasonable and I am sure that they will offer full season rates as well.

Well...I'm not going to lie to you. Our announcers still have a ways to go in refining their hockey play-by-play as they still tend to get the puck mixed up with a ball from time to time and can't understand why we are pulling our goalie mid play (delayed penalty) but they are starting to get the hang of it and I give them credit for trying. :)

Yikes...that's funny. :)

I might have been the guy with the play by play call but alas Norwich came calling which ended those plans.

Are they students that they have been calling the games?

I think the big surprise is that the person that gave RIT the first place vote gave Norwich a fifth place vote.

Excellent point. Didn't even notice that until you pointed it out. Someone is down on Norwich being able to survive the post-Leclerc era.

Re: Div-3 Hockey 2011-2012

No play by play. Just color. Touche. ;)

Great! Just the guy I've been looking for.

Could you explain the term "Offsides" to me. It's meaning and origin would be fine.

I'll use it in a sentence..."The right winger was way offsides on that one Prez".

Does it mean that both feet were over? Two players were over? :)

There are two sides to a line of scrimmage in football hence the plural term for offside, offsides. It has carried over to all sports for Yanks. Funny, I always thought it might be a lisp. :)

Hah! Well I've never heard Keith Jackson, Dandy Don Drysdale, Dierdorf, Micheals or Collins say it but.... now that you mention it I guess OJ may have used it...:)

I think Trinity (following major losses to graduation and sudden departure of Coach McPhee to Brown) may have trouble finishing higher than 5th in the NESCAC, so it surprises me to think of them as #9 nationally. Does this mean we can bump Conn College up to a ranked team if they sweep the Bantams the first weekend of the NESCAC season?
