Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

maine governor's race is pretty tight. with 75% of precincts reporting, the gap is 3100 votes (less than 1%). at 60% reported it was tied, and the guy losing was up by by 8% or so for most of the night... race is between the republican (who is leading) and an independent. the democrat running is getting lapped by both...

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Still, most banks, govt agencies and other organizations with top security requirements ban handguns to improve security. Yet, youre still bitter about your inability to show one ounce of evidence that conceal and carry makes anyone safer.

This discussion ended over a month ago. Get over it.

And you still haven't shown a single piece of evidence, real or not, that anyone is firing rifles across 394 or wherever the hell your fantasy land is. That or someone being convicted of murder who used a properly and legally concealed weapon.

I'll tell you what, I'd feel a hell of a lot safer walking down the streets of north minneapolis when I'm packing heat than if I wasn't.

Holy hell! Emmer is catching up, and fast. Really fast. Half an hour ago it was 130,000. Now it's down to about 40,000.

There was a vote count glitch in Hennepin county - they had tabulated 880,000 votes - more than 400,000 more than the total cast in 2006. I am guessing that fixing that problem is wreaking havoc on the vote totals. Per the strib site, Dayton is now only leading 44-42.

Major - you are a tool, plain and simple. I'm not convinced allowing permits to carry concealed weapons fixes or reduces all crime-related problems, nor am I convinced they create that many problems, either (in other words, enacting such laws probably doesn't make that much of a difference either way). Your hysteria regarding this law is certainly comical, however.

Is LePage a teapartier?

Just curious. My dad is usually pretty solid for the GOP, but was leaning independent this year. Something about LePage wasn't sitting right with him...

lepage is a bit volatile which scares the hell out of a lot of people. my understanding is that early on he courted the support of the teapartiers, but later tried to distance himself from them... it's looking like lepage is going to win given the way things have been trending, but i really think maine is missing a real opportunity for job creation with the (apparent) loss of cutler...

ummm tool? Youre the one who raised a debate he can't close....yet again.

The most sophisticated high security organzations in the country have already decided handguns are dangerous and ban them.

That's my proof...now tell me how this is not evidence...or come forward with ANY evidence that people feel more secure being near a stranger with a handgun.

Yes, you are a tool... living in fear of your fellow law-abiding citizens carrying handguns.

And you lost all credibility in the debate the moment you chirped about the possibility of getting shot at on a 394 commute thanks to the law.

Every time I see you post your mindless drivel, I will point that out to you - as a reminder to others not to take anything you say seriously.

what the **** is jerry brown talking about?! HOly hell. this is like watching the howard dean iowa speech all over. unbelievable.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

299 of 438 precincts reporting, Murkowski up by 4 points.

ADN's Twitter reporting Miller has left the campaign party and is keeping mum to the press.

Not all carry-permit holders are law-abiding. There is one instructor in MN who runs coke for a criminal organization--just hasn't been caught.

For that matter, not all people remain law-abiding. There were 144 reported crimes in MN committed by permit holders, of which 15 used the weapon, 29 didn't, and 100 are unknown.

Not saying that carrying is a good or bad idea--just throwing stuff out there.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

I predict Emmer will lose by .08% of the vote.

It'll be more than that. The majority of counties that still have votes out are pretty favorable towards Dayton, based on what they've reported so far.

As I said, before and after the law was passed, there's been little change - either way.

Furthermore, the likelihood of permit holders committing crimes is lower than the general population:
"...convictions of permit holders indicates that their likelihood of committing an assault is about 17 times less than the general population's, 12 times less for drunken driving and 31 times less for drug crimes."

But according to people like 5mn major, these permit holders are all itching to take shots at him on the freeway and can't be trusted.

And reread my prediction about the MN governor's race. There's a joke in there. See if you can find it. :p
