Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

What you said. The DUI thing was a big deal for me. Maybe a quarter of my decision. But the rest was based purely on the issues. Horner was the man for the job I think.

Horner was the better candidate of the two. Dayton basically won by engaging in class warfare that targeted an uneducated electorate. Obviously running against a weak candidate and having a strong third party guy split the Independent vote didn't hurt either.

SOunds like they're going to hold only 50 seats. Much better.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

CNN map says 60% reported, with similar percent numbers.

http://edition.cnn.com/ELECTION/2010/results/individual/#mapSNV

CNN is off in its precinct reporting number. I noticed it in a handful of races.

I didnt vote for Dayton, I hate Dayton to be honest but I would chose him any day of the week and twice on Sunday over Emmer. The MNGOP screwed up royally letting that guy get the nod. Nothing quite like putting up a nimrod who is not only dumb enough to get a couple DUIs (and wanted to lower penalties on them or at least let himself be quoted as such) but who honestly believed a couple of waitresses and bartenders in St. Paul (at the Eagle Street) made nearly a million dollars in tips and used that as a justification for why service workers like me should get our wages cut. The guy was not fit to be the head of a school board let alone the State of Minnesota.

Honest question...are there any politicians youve liked?

No doubt, but the electorate is so polarized right now no third party guy has a chance. Too bad, Horner would have been a much better Governor than Mark Dayton.

To tell you how bad a candidate Dayton was, my father who is a definite lefty to the point of just voting D if he hates all the candidates voted for Horner over Dayton.

If it wasn't for all those citizens carrying concealed handguns and firing them across highways at all hours, his supporters might have made it to the polls and elected him.

Democratic executive. Republican House. I smell a fiscal recovery.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Could it be more fitting that Reid lucked into <s>victory</s> failure to lose on the strength of Vegas?

Luck. He has it.

Palin on Fox News: "...need to reign in the powers of Federal agencies, like the EPA..."

Newsflash: You have clean drinking water, breathable air, pollution free land (for the most part, obviously unusable land does exist because of pollution), and safe neighborhoods (EPCRA) because of the EPA. Someone needs to tell her to google search: Cuyahoga River fires, "Valley of the drums" and Love Canal, New York. Finally, the EPA was not the idea of some hippie liberal from California, but of...........wait for it........... Richard M. Nixon (R-CA). For the trivia buffs, Nixon also signed the OSH Act into law. Which means, Sarah, you have the right to a workplace "free from recognized hazards that are causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm."

Yeah, I think she's more referring to the EPA classifying CO2 as a hazardous pollutant. I'm reasonably confident, as stupid as she is, that she isn't pro lead in water or mercury in air.

Someone needs to inform you that the epa is over reaching more and more every year. The air has been breathable and the water drinkable for quite some time now. We don't need it to be cleaner and more breathable do we? ;)

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Correct. She was commenting on it because of the failure of cap and trade to pass through Congress, Obama may/will be tempted to regulate CO2 via the EPA. If we think CO2 is that bad, it makes more sense to tax it as that has the benefit of cutting emissions *and* increasing revenue.

I'm not totally convinced she understands that there is more to the EPA than CO2 emission control. It's better to tax the CO2, like Bakunin said, than weaken an entire agency because you disagree with one part of one law (Clean Air Act).

Still, most banks, govt agencies and other organizations with top security requirements ban handguns to improve security. Yet, youre still bitter about your inability to show one ounce of evidence that conceal and carry makes anyone safer.

This discussion ended over a month ago. Get over it.
