D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Norwich only beat New England College 1-0 tonight thus they should be eliminated from the discussion unless they win the Conference. To much east coast bias. Middlebury too, 4-3 over Colby

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Utica would actually have to WIN a criteria, they don't.

Got me there... (And it's "criterion", singular, JSYK.)

God knows I hate the AQ thing, but Utica has a solid history of whupping Platty, and I expect more of the same next weekend. That'll circumvent all this NCAA foolishness.

(...And you can take that to the bank, cupcake.)

Solid History? 2 wins in 15 years is a "solid" history?

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Solid as a rock, boys and girls. You can mail it in. Utica has this thing in the bag. (Anyone care to wager?)

A 1-0 win counts the same as a 10-0 win in the criteria.

I'm fairly certain Norwich is nowhere near the discussion outside of the Pool A slot they get for winning the conference. If Middlebury makes the NESCAC finals they are in. Barring major upsets elsewhere. Even if they don't make the finals they might be in barring upsets in conference championships.

Utica is a better than average team...no more, no less. Platty will smoke them like a pack of Marlboro Lights.

Except they're not going to play each other until the regular season next year. Utica will face and lose to Elmira this weekend while Plattsburgh will mop the floor with Oswego. This is a two team conference. The rest of the teams don't matter.

I think Norwich is creeping closer to the Pool C discussion. They've won 11 in a row now. It would still be in the Cadets' best interest to win the NEHC title if they want to go dancing but I don't think its quite as far fetched as it was before with Lake Forest having a really tough ending to the season.

It'd be pretty difficult IMHO to justify putting both Middlebury and Lake Forest into the NCAA Tournament head of Norwich after NU beat Middlebury and the Middlebury beat Lake Forest.

If Norwich makes the NEHC finals, I'd say it's much closer than you think on them getting in.

But, with that being said, WIN YOUR LEAGUE. Don't leave your fate in the hands of the committee and the criteria.

Don't worry, it's just Fish trying to talk out of his ....again

I don't think they will have done enough to pass Middlebury or Amherst. There are only 2 Pool C bids and Plattsburgh/Elmira are almost certainly getting one of them even if either loses this weekend. I don't like Norwich's chances of an at-large as they (narrowly) lose every comparison with Middlebury and are currently ranked behind them. If they are competing for a Pool C then both took another loss.

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

What makes you so confident?

The Utica ladies have been playing possum all year, doing just enough to get the 3-seed and giving EC and Platty a false sense of security. Now, they are poised to take advantage of the element of surprise to blitz through the conference tournament. I relish the nearly-certain prospect of watching stunned fans of the opposition stumbling glassy-eyed from the arena while UC triumphantly hoists the hardware.
