Paid the 8 bucks. Not happy about it either. I didn't think it was a rough game at all. Some of the penalties were earned- the two coincidental roughing calls for instance (those happen in front of the net when the ref is slow on the whistle). Didn't see either checking from behind, although my system might have been refreshing when they occurred. I was scratching my head on a few calls, and there were an unusual number of center ice face offs for 'whoops, we made a mistake' whistles. I wouldn't call it a slugfest by any stretch of the imagination.

Not a rough game at all. The checking from behinds were not on the boards so really more of a "checking" call than anything. Neither coach was happy with the officiating and they all stood at center ice for at least five minutes discussing the game. Given all the penalties it was one of the more cleanly played games I've seen all year with minimal clutching/grabbing or cheap crap.

Adrian is a solid squad and were content to play with a one goal lead for the 3rd never really trying to pressure and played very defensive just chipping it out and on occasion letting their couple faster players make a rush. A smart team that did exactly what they needed to do to win. Thought RF carried the play for the first 25+ minutes but once Adrian got the two goals in a short span they settled in and seemed much more in control. RF certainly could have won the game but I think the better team won.

Utica earned this one. Played the entire third period down at least one player (5 on 3 twice). Seemed like mostly good calls, and their defense held up. Goaltender was the difference. Plattsburgh did not look great 5 on 5.

I'm almost happy this happened. Last time they went into the NCAA tourney undefeated they ended up losing in the semifinals. Now all they need is to win tomorrow to start another run...

I'm sure the team and coaches are not happy about this one, although it does take the undefeated monkey off their backs and will probably make them hungrier to not lose again this year. Not good news for their opponents from here until the end of the season.

I agree with you. It's not like they outshot the opponent 45-10 and lost by a goal. They gave up scoring chance after scoring chance (2 on 1s, breakaways). In the 5 on 3s, it was basically two passes and a shot from the point. They really didn't work the puck down low. Utica looked more dangerous yesterday than Elmira last weekend. Maybe the Cardinals get something out of this game and it propels them to the title, but no one should be "happy" about the loss...

By the way, the last D-III loss by the Lady Cardinals to a team not named Elmira? March 15, 2013 to Middlebury in the Frozen Four.

Utica is not some cupcake team. I just checked out their record. They're good. Platty better be ready today. They always give the Cards a good game.

Cardinals up 6-1. Meneghin had to be helped of the ice after scoring on a breakaway with a few minutes left in the second.

Plattsburgh finished 6-1 over Utica. Wonder if Utica makes any waves in the polls after yesterday
