D3 Hockey is back!

Utica is not some cupcake team. I just checked out their record. They're good. Platty better be ready today. They always give the Cards a good game.

Utica's coach always seems to find a way to get his team to compete well with Plattsburgh and Elmira. Their win made me wonder, what other teams in the ECAC West have ever beaten or even tied Plattsburgh or Elmira. It's one thing to beat all the other teams in that league but to coach your team to victory over Plattsburgh or Elmira is really something else. Anyone know the answer?

I am not taking anything away from Utica....Plattsburgh was not ready that game and Utica had a plan for that and implemented it ! They took advantage of Plattsburgh mistakes and made them count. Good coaches teach this and know the signs in the early stages of the game. Utica won a game that they deserved to win. The game the next day was a complete turn-around. Plattsburgh made every thing count in the second period and put the game away early.

Well the last time Plattsburgh lost to an ECAC-W team not named Elmira (or RIT) was Nov. 8, 2008 when they lost to Utica. Which is the only other time Plattsburgh has ever lost to an ECAC-W besides Elmira/RIT. (with a very quick scan of collegehockeystats.)

Elmira lost to Potsdam in an ECAC-W quarterfinal in Feb. 2012 and had a loss to Buffalo state in 2011

Thanks for the info. Plattsburgh is a powerhouse for sure. Looking at collegehockeystats.net at those two losses you said Elmira had.....they outshot Potsdam 47-13 but lost 2-1 so really a loss because Potsdam's goalie must have stood on her head to steal the game from Elmira. The year before they only outshot Buffalo 37-24 and lost 4-3 in overtime so a much more even game judging from the stats. I bet both of those teams were thrilled to have such marquis wins against a team like Elmira especially Potsdam with such a huge upset during the playoffs.

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

According to the lineup in the live stats from Potsdam, Plattsburgh is playing without Meneghin and Sheeran.

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Lake Forest 1 Adrian 1 late in the first.

Adrian goal on the Power Play early in the game.

Lake Forest Brungus with a short handed goal on an Adrian turnover right in front of the net late 1st.

Very entertaining game so far.

Crazy game...Logan Taylor with a short handed breakaway to put Adrian up 2-1 with 6 to go in the 2nd.

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Plattsburgh up 7-0 after two. Moriarty and Senese each with 2 goals. They may be without their top two scorers but they're not missing them much today.

Considering they both went off injured last week in Utica, but I was hearing rumors that neither was really that bad, I'm hoping today is just precautionary.

My view at the game: neither is in crutches today, which is a good sign in my book.

That's very encouraging. They may be able to drop 7 on Potsdam without them, but it would be an extremely tough playoff run without them.
