D3 Hockey is back!

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Considering they both went off injured last week in Utica, but I was hearing rumors that neither was really that bad, I'm hoping today is just precautionary.

My view at the game: neither is in crutches today, which is a good sign in my book.

When you have the depth...why take the chance...let them rest !

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Plattsburgh appears to be coasting in 3rd, but still scores 2 more! 9-0 halfway thru 3rd. Make that 10-0 final.

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Interesting Scenario coming out in th MIAC.

Hamline and Gustavus are tied late in the third...St Mary's is going to beat St. Kate.

If Hamline and Gustavus end in a tie...St Mary's and Gustavus are in a tie for 5th.

Looking at MIAC tie breakers...I think Gustavus would win the tiebreak and get the 5th playoff spot. If Hamline somehow wins...Gustavus is out of the MIAC playoffs for I'm guessing the first time ever(?)

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Adrian 2
LFC 1

Final

Adrian wins the NCHA outright.

It was a hard fought game and I think it really could have gone either way. Lewicki is pretty darn good. I do think she flops a lot and gets calls. At least 2 of the penalties on Lake Forest were her falling down after she lost the puck and then getting the tripping call. Considering the things they were letting Adrian get away with, I'd think the refs were favoring the Bulldogs a little bit.

Either way...these two teams are clearly the top 2 in the west and hopefully they both make the NCAA's so the west has the best shot at upsetting the eastern folks.

Hamline and Gustavus ends in a tie....too bad :P

Well I must have looked at it wrong because the MIAC page has St. Marys in and Gustavus out.

At least the Gusties won't be able to choke out East this year :P

Hard fought is an understatement for LFC. Greeneway injured in first period and did not finish game. Pattison injured in second period and also did not return. Dropping like flies. Great comment you had on the Lesperance tackle on break away. Biggest non call I have seen all year.

Yes indeed, congratulations to your team. I don't know what happened to your team since LFC beat them earlier in the year, but they looked awesome this past weekend. Goalies for both teams were outstanding. First game could have gone either way, shots even. Second game was not much of a contest, LFC goalie kept the score close.

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Thank you.

Our starting goaltender was injured early in the year. As well as Gibson has played (and she has been nothing short of tremendous this year), when the chips are down, Walsh is our clear-cut #1 goaltender. That, and mix in some of the development our younger players have undergone over the year, plus home ice, and you get what we had this weekend.

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Just so you know, back in the day when the likes of Chatham would "show up", coach Houle would go out of his way not to embarrass them (and believe me it wasn't easy). One way was to make sure the puck was passed 5,6,7 times before a shot could be taken; let D play forward; forwards play D; have the goalie come out and eliminate icings when the opponent would elect to send the puck the length of the ice to relieve pressure. Stuff like that.

So you can rest easy with the "no class" crap.

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Horrible, classless stuff right there, let me tell you. ;)

I think it might have all started on the men's side when RIT would beat Neumann something like 25-0. A thread got started along the lines of "RIT has no class!!!". Just like that, an inside joke was born.

At least that's how it was explained to me.

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

You obviously don't know the old joke about "No Class" It is when a team wins by 10 or more goals.

Of course I know the old joke... Plattsburgh has been scoring 10+ for a long time. that's why I said what I did. You didn't think that I was referring to Plattsburg's current set of parents did you? The four or five dads acting like lunatics in tight games or the moms whinning at the refs all the time. I like Coach Houle and he recruits players but this years players came with soft parents!
