D3 Game Updates 2012-13

Re: D3 Game Updates 2012-13

I know you ***** and moan about having to travel, but think about the Gustavus fans that have had to travel to New York/Vermont 9 or 10 times.....

I do see how I can afford the trip and I am sorry to miss only my second DIII final (the other being the year Amherst won at Gustavus), but your point is obviously a good one and fair is fair. I only hope the fans in the west get out, support their teams and make the event a great success!

You have me confused with someone else...being a CPA, I can't ever travel further than Lake Placid in March anyway!!!

I'm not sure what the date is, but I think its the 2nd Saturday of Spring Break...so I wouldn't count on much support from UWS...even if they were there. I'm sure River Falls/Gustavus would bring a good crowd. I don't think Lake Forest has that big of a following.

Better hope Gustavus makes the Finals....the last time is was held out west (even in Gustavus) the Championship game had a whole 130-something....

Gustavus was not in the championship game, having lost to Amherst 4-0 in the semi. The final was Amherst's 7-2 schooling of Norwich, in what has to go in the books as the most dominating performance in the DIII finals ever!

Simple fact is that the last two years at RIT, everyone has been spoiled. Had RIT students been on break, it would have been pretty quiet.

Ummm not really...the "west" was and has been signifcantly below average when hosting....

And yes I know Gust wasn't in the Final...thats my point. If Gustavus isn't in the Finals in Superior id expect another 100-200 attendance. The west has been on average much lower in Final Four attendance both men and women.....

Re: D3 Game Updates 2012-13

Well, if they dont support the NCAA Championships, then they shouldn't be invited to host. How do you build exposure with 100 people watching a National Championship...it's embarassing....and add to it the fact that a Western based team hasnt won a game in how many years??? Come on!! Put the NCAAs where you get the most exposure and bang for the buck...in the EAST!!!

Well it looks like the wesleyan goalie did what a real number one goalie does and robbed a team. Even with all the hockey i watch i always marvel and admire how a hot goalie has the final say.

Due props to Corvi, who has been outstanding throughout her career. Keep in mind, though, that back in the day Stemmerman was just as good, if not better, yet in those days she could only keep the score down. The fact is that Wesleyan is much more competitive up front these days, and as a result a hot goalie can win games rather than just keep them closer.

Re: D3 Game Updates 2012-13

Norwich leads Plymouth State 2-0 halfway through the 1st. Liz Gemitti scores her 1st Norwich goal, and Nicolette Gosselin adds her 2nd of the year.

Re: D3 Game Updates 2012-13

Charron gets her 2nd of the game and 23rd on the season off a pretty feed from Jill DeBus at 7:17 of the 2nd. 4-0 Cadets.

Re: D3 Game Updates 2012-13

Congratulations to Conn goalie Fralick on leading the Camels to their alltime first win over Middlebury!

Great that an established program like Amherst could "school" a third year program like Norwich , in as you say" the most dominating performance in the D III finals ever".............Really ???? They beat a third year program who yes was in the finals....oh yea and has been every year since I believe....Anyone else make that claim??? Anyone......Anyone....I thought so.....3 times in like 6 years of existence! Not bad...I bet some "established" programs would love to make that claim.

Lest we forget, Elmira won the DIII the first two seasons they were in existence?

Looks like you have touched a nerve there obserbear. Your statement remains true about the specific game you referenced. It was a beatdown for sure. There is no doubt about Norwich establishing itself as top notch program and lo and behold visit Orr on Feb 6. High flying Cadets came into Orr last January and were given a lesson on Defense 101. Final was 2-0 Jeffs if I recall.

Re: D3 Game Updates 2012-13

Utica & Plattsburgh skate to a 3-3 tie after Plattsburgh falls behind 3-1 after 2.

No, I believe you are correct....and then The Lord Jeff's found themselves in Kreitzberg about ...oh 1 month later and they forgot to bring that defensive lesson that they had taught Norwich with them and were handily defeated like 5-1 when it counted in the playoffs......And if I recall it was total domination by the Cadets.........
