D-I Championship Belt

Re: D-I Championship Belt

You were willing to bet.
the Big Red...the only serious candidate?

Fixed up my post. Posted it too fast on the way to a meeting and key parts of the message got lost in translation.

Answers:
1 - No longer dare to bet when this streak ends. (That is really meant as a compliment to the Streak)
2 - Currently Big Red appears to be the only candidate from the East able to take a run.

Re: D-I Championship Belt

St. Cloud gave it a go and nearly had the belt. It appears that UND will have an excellent chance at the belt this coming weekend.

Re: D-I Championship Belt

So for the season to date, Minnesota started the season with the Belt in possession and held it:
at Colgate on October 4 and 5;
vs Wisconsin on October 11 and 12;
at Minnesota-Duluth on October 18 and 19;
at Bemidji State on October 25 and 26;
vs Minnesota State at home on November 1 and in Mankato on November 2.

The next defense will take place November 8 and 9 in St. Cloud.
Minnesota held the Belt
at St. Cloud State on November 8 and 9;
vs North Dakota on November 16.

North Dakota claimed the belt on November 17 and will try to retain it November 22 and 23 at home versus Wisconsin.

North Dakota held the Belt on November 22 by virtue of a tie.

Wisconsin seized the Belt on November 23 and will defend it on November 29 and 30 in Duluth.

Re: D-I Championship Belt

I believe that the soonest the belt could return to its proper owners is January 24th against St. Cloud.
You have nailed the timetable. But I also subscribe to the holy mantra as proclaimed by the Nature Boy. Wooooo!!!!!

Ric Flair's usual rant when stripped of gender references boils down for me to something like if you want to be the Champ you have to beat the Champ. Which the current holder of the belt has NOT done. Looking forward I'd be plenty good with getting the belt back February 15 in Madison, or even, if necessary, March 8 in Bemidji.

Wisconsin held the Belt
versus UMD with a tie and a win on Nov. 29 and 30,
a home sweep of Bemidji State on Dec. 6 and 8,
and a sweep at St. Cloud State on Jan. 3 and 4.

North Dakota reclaimed the Belt for a day on Jan. 11 in Madison, then lost it Jan. 18 to

Wisconsin. The Badgers held it through a trip to Bemidji State on Jan. 17 and 18. Their next defense will be on home ice versus UMD on Jan. 25 and 26.

... is there a heart design on that belt?

Only if it was applied by Minnesota, who took it -- and the Intercontinental... oh wait, excuse me, the WCHA regular-season championship -- on the 14th.

The Gophers then retained the belt on the 15th. UMD gets another chance to claim the belt this season with their series in Minneapolis on the 21st & 22nd.
