D-I Championship Belt

Re: D-I Championship Belt

Perfect

By the way wouldn't it be funny if BC lost to Vermont and then Merrimack beat Vermont in the last game of the year, giving newly D1 Merrimack the Belt for the entire offseason?

Ahaha

Funny probably isn't the right word for how you would react if BC lost to Vermont. However you would probably use a colorful metaphor that starts with F. ;)

When is the last time that a team not winning the crown ended up with the belt at the end of the season. Would have to be from a league where not everyone makes the playoffs, like the ECAC, or HE at some point in the past. Did it ever happen. ?

Not exactly the same, but two years ago RIT ended the season with a win but no national championship -- they were CHA champions the year before the CHA autobid.

FWIW, the last time that it happened on the men's side was in 1986 when US International College, a member of the Great West Conference along with Northern Arizona and the two Alaska schools, had the Belt and didn't make the tourney. It also happened seven times before that.
