D-I Championship Belt

Re: D-I Championship Belt

eventually landing in DC's, errr UNH's lap, by year end. Unfortunatly, those old posts with that data seem to have disappeared into oblivion.

We weren't aware of any Belt, but if it's been around that long, it conjures images of something scarily Saturday Night Feverish:eek:
And as long as we'd have had it, it would have been considered outdated:p

The other myth, or for some a perceived reality, is that "Glorious Moments off the past" tend to become more glamourous and Glorious over time. :D

Well, It is now reality, because Crazy Dave had one made, and from all the glitter and shine adorning it, it is easily reminiscent of my era - circa Saturday Night Fever fever;)

Colin Titcomb gets the credit for the belt, I believe.

Pictorial evidence ?

Re: D-I Championship Belt

The big question is......Will the Belt move along to the first team that beats Minny next season. ?
I'm going to spend my offseason in the blissful fantasy world where Minnesota never loses. ;) Colin can answer if he's so inclined.

Given that the belt has seen two real championships in under a one-year period -- the Lynx basketball team and Gopher women's hockey -- my guess is that he's going to hang onto it.

Re: D-I Championship Belt

Minnesota retained the Belt through series with Colgate (9/28 & 29) and St. Cloud State (10/5 & 6). The Belt now goes on its first plane ride since February as it travels to Canton, N.Y. with the Gophers.

Re: D-I Championship Belt

Not a lot of movement of the Belt thus far this season. Minnesota retained it through series:
at St. Lawrence on Oct. 12 & 13;
versus Ohio State on Oct. 19 & 20;
at North Dakota on Oct. 27 & 28;
at Minnesota-Duluth on Nov. 2 & 3;
versus Minnesota State on Nov. 16 & 17;
at New Hampshire on Nov. 24 & 25;
versus Wisconsin on Dec. 1 & 2.

Re: D-I Championship Belt

:cool: And it would be very nice to keep it for the remainder of 2012.
...and if the Mayans prove accurate and enlightened prognosticators, the Mighty Championship Belt belongs to Minnesota 'til the end...the very end!

Wishfull thinking. Good things never last foreva. Willing to Bet the Belt will move at least once at some point prior to the end of March.

Re: D-I Championship Belt

The end of the world is wishful thinking? :confused: If those Mayans are right, there won't be any March. Or February. Or January.

Was referring to the second half of the statement, but decided to quote the whole post, as the OP called me to task in the past on editing !! (Besides, it was very much a TIC comment)

Look at the schedule of Minnesota compared to UMD and Wisconsin and you will see that their schedules are much tougher. WCHA playoffs could be surprising.

Re: D-I Championship Belt

6:30 PM local...still here sucking air and taking up space. Could it be the Mayans were just screwing with us? Anyone else survive to follow the trail of The Championship Belt?
