Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

What if what they really want is to just be left alone. Maybe what you're offering is of no interest to them. It sounds crazy to you, but you must consider the possibility. (I know a lot of folks just that way.)

If somebody is reaching for a hot stove, I'm not going to say, "You know what, your opinions on the first law of thermodynamics are just as valid as Rudolph Clausius". I'm going to tell them it's hot, and when they say, "I'm not letting some German tell me what to do. I'd look like an idiot" and they grab it anyway, I'm going to call them a ****ing idiot.

On the other side the non-racist hate filled GOPers need to Address That This Is Happening And That You And Your Party Cannot Stand For This. If you truly hate the racist element call them out and make sure you make it clear that just because they choose to vote GOP doesnt mean you support their crap. You want half the country not to think you are racist/sexist/xenophobic scum...show us you arent. Stop trying to suppress the vote of Black People (and call out those who do) and stop tacitly approving the stuff chanted at rallies (yes silence = tacit approval) and posted on social media. Be the adult in the room, tell the children to grow the F up already otherwise why should people believe otherwise?

Exactly!!! If he just once would come out and "Cmon guys, stop doing that stuff" then maybe his acceptance speech would actually mean something. Does he not see this stuff? Are people keeping it from him?

Yep, but I wouldn't take it as a sign the rest of the population will follow his lead. If this forum and the stuff floating around social media are any indication, twenty years from now we may look back on 2016 as a period of calm civility in elections.

So in your world twenty years from now, it will have been the people ranting about Trump on social media who will have marked the end of civility in elections, not the racist Trump supporters spewing hatred and assaulting women wearing hijabs?

Saw a headline where Trump's website was scrubbed of any mentions of the Muslim immigrant ban after his meeting today. I can almost see a dim ray of hope through the gloom here: Best case: Trump emerges as a clueless president who learns to trust in capable advisers enough not to end the world, mostly does nothing but seek admiration from everyone, most things stabilize around the common values of human people, and we get 4 years of comedy gold making fun of Trump trying to play a role he is completely unfit for but holds nonetheless.

You know, if you'd call them a medic instead you'd probably get them to listen to you the next time.
But keep calling them < bleep > and guess what, you'll ensure Trump 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 ...

Capable advisors? Sarah Palin as Secretary of the Interior? Leading Anti-LGBT leaders to work on taking away gay marriage rights? The head of Breitbart as his chief of staff? Please. Not happening.

it's ok to turn off the clowns-purple browns game at 9a to catch rachel talk with pocahontas tonight!!!

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

There's about $13.6 trillion in debt. If we have to start paying interest on that debt, you can kiss the economy goodbye.

3% interest on $13.6 trillion is $408 billion a year. What gets wiped to pay it?

I heard a thing where he was scrubbing every "nominee" who had a bad thing to say about him in the primaries and thought, well who's left? We might be down to Rudy, Newt, Sarah, and his own kids. Maybe Scott Adams for education?

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

Hmmm... Handy has been making some real, workable, pragmatic suggestions.

Good... Good...

Not a chance...I will never vote for the platform the GOP has. I mean that...NEVER. I wont support people who take away the rights of citizens based on color, origin, religion or sexual orientation. I will never support trickle down economics or cutting social services. I will never support a party that is against the Equal Rights Amendment, the NEA or the Voters Rights Act. The Republican Party in and of itself (especially its leadership) can kiss my ***.

But I am not going to paint everyone that does vote Republican as evil. We derided them for doing that towards anyone who supported Obama and I hate hypocrisy. Hell I dont know one Republican that voted for that Clown (I know plenty of GOPers) and I am not going to just call them racist because they chose not to vote for Hillary. That is ridiculous on its face and is everything that is wrong with todays politics.

Do I think a lot of people are morons...your ****ed right I do. I will never get people in Flint voting for Drumpf (or not voting at all) and on a personal level I do think "F You if you want to poison yourself go for it!". I am not going to say that to them though and then tell them they are racist, xenophobic scum because they made a horrid decision. There is a better chance they learn if I tell them why it was a bad decision not get in their face about it.

But hey you go right ahead Scooby and Maize...get all uppity elitist about it. Worked so well for Hillary...
