Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

Except it kind of was because it's going to be dealt with whether you want to stick your head in the sand about it or not. If that makes you that uncomfortable, maybe it's time to re-evaluate the whole Guns>People philosophy you laid out earlier in the thread.

Again, for you how racist each candidate was had a lot of importance. There is nothing wrong with that at all, but you can't tell everyone else that how you judged the candidates is how they should as well. There probably are 100 different issues you compare them on and each person has some that are most important to them. Gun control is obviously a big one for me but I don't think everyone else should put it at the top of their list.

Yep, but I wouldn't take it as a sign the rest of the population will follow his lead. If this forum and the stuff floating around social media are any indication, twenty years from now we may look back on 2016 as a period of calm civility in elections.

I want things back to the way they were. To do that we need to reach out and heal this crap. If we continue to have both sides **** on each other nothing works. If we the Liberals ever want to get back to power we need to do it by working person to person, not by saying "LOOK AT THEM THEY ARE ALL RACIST EVIL D BAGS!!1!!!!". You want to change minds...talk to people and show them why they may be wrong.

On the other side the non-racist hate filled GOPers need to Address That This Is Happening And That You And Your Party Cannot Stand For This. If you truly hate the racist element call them out and make sure you make it clear that just because they choose to vote GOP doesnt mean you support their crap. You want half the country not to think you are racist/sexist/xenophobic scum...show us you arent. Stop trying to suppress the vote of Black People (and call out those who do) and stop tacitly approving the stuff chanted at rallies (yes silence = tacit approval) and posted on social media. Be the adult in the room, tell the children to grow the F up already otherwise why should people believe otherwise?

This country cant handle this crap much longer. We the people need to heal this amongst ourselves. We need to stop just shouting down The Other...its time to start talking again. Get past the conspiracy theories, all the BS scandals and the noise and just grow up.

And all I'm saying is that there are consequences to how you prioritize your list. Silently condoning racism was one of the consequences to yours. If you can't live with that, maybe it's time to re-prioritize.

War is a consequence as well. I think with Hillary there was a much better chance of that. Which one is worse? Everyone made the decision they thought was best for their own reasons, no shame in that at all.

This idea that "we're going back" just isn't going to happen*. We didn't start discussing police violence against minorities because of Obama like some on the Right claimed. We did it because we have cell phone cameras now and those aren't going away. We live in the era of Big Data and the information on systemic racism is out there. Don't allow people to pass the buck on it. The only way you're going to deal with the casual oppression of the Just Don't Cares is to point out the effects of it.

*By the way, I've loved the argument pushed ever since the election that my side didn't adequately address the needs of disaffected rural voters when they promised universal pre-K, better college opportunities, and a safety net for those that can't find work. And Trump promised that we're going back to hand-making penny farthings and waking up at 4am to till the field by hand again.

Didn't Trump say he would bomb the **** out of someone? ISIS maybe?

I believe he was talking about Planned Parenthood. Maybe Rosie O'Donnell.

And yet you seem to feel quite a bit of a shame when the inherent racism of your decision is pointed out. Like I said, there's nothing with re-evaluating.

I know that and you know that...they dont. And you shouting them down about it will only hurt your cause.

Nobody listened to them. It's a crock of ****. But, hey, nobody listened.

I love how you say that, but ignore that Trump unironically asked his advisers why we can't use our nukes.

You're right. I should have just focused on that one tiny bit of information and ignored everything else. No one knows for certain which is less likely to go to war but I like our chances better with him.

I don't feel a bit of shame. As I said earlier I thought he was the best choice for my own reasons. Unlike you I think people should vote for whoever they want for whatever reasons they want. I guess I just don't have the holier than tho attitude in me.

Vote for who you want. Just don't whine about the consequences of that vote, which in this case, was supporting racism.

Here it comes ...
Back on 9/11 when the planes hit, my first question was "Is a fully loaded and fueled aircraft a WMD?"

Why?
Because if it is, and it was a nation-state behind the action, I'd have called an on-patrol SSBN and executed Operation: GlassParkingLot.

And that's why you should never vote for me for President I guess.

What if what they really want is to just be left alone. Maybe what you're offering is of no interest to them. It sounds crazy to you, but you must consider the possibility. (I know a lot of folks just that way.)
