Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

3% interest on $13.6 trillion is $408 billion a year. What gets wiped to pay it?

We're going to repeal and replace Obamacare with some guys we found that feel no shame about having some really valid opinions about heart surgery. Tremendously low insurance premiums on that. So low it will make your head spin.

Saw a headline where Trump's website was scrubbed of any mentions of the Muslim immigrant ban after his meeting today. I can almost see a dim ray of hope through the gloom here: Best case: Trump emerges as a clueless president who learns to trust in capable advisers enough not to end the world, mostly does nothing but seek admiration from everyone, most things stabilize around the common values of human people, and we get 4 years of comedy gold making fun of Trump trying to play a role he is completely unfit for but holds nonetheless.

It's back up on the website.

Things are easy today. ISIS hasn't done much here in a while, and all the people that have been killing police officers this week were white, so we didn't really care. The moment will certainly come when Trump's temperament is tested though, and that's an extremely scary proposition.

You're missing it.
If you walk in and talk down to someone they resent you.
If you offer someone in need help (like a medic for a burnt hand) you've started to gain influence.
You don't have to do or say anything more than offer the help when they're in need and you're on the path to a win.

Call them a < bleep > and you're through before you start.

Here, maybe this will explain it:

If you're so small and petty that you'd literally rather see other people hurt than take even a moment for self-reflection in the face of overwhelming fact, then that isn't my problem. Act like an *******, and you'll be called an *******.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

I will when I get home...

Currently though I am trying not to throw up reading about the stuff being down to minorities and gays in this country...hell in this state. This is not ok...the Right needs to address this and now. No fake platitudes, not "oh it isnt as bad as you think" they need to stand up and tell these people to back down and act American. This is Nazi level stuff and that is not hyperbole. America cant last 4 years of this...

Hillary didn't email anybody today, and a lot of people with perfectly valid opinions that we should respect and tolerate think that's more important, so we should too.

You just choose never to get it do you. Go back to trolling on GPL you are better at it...

(and you suck at it which shows how horrible your posts are here right now)

That isnt what he said...but then again you probably didnt read it anyways since you know better than everyone what they are saying, thinking and how they feel.

I will never get people in Flint voting for Drumpf (or not voting at all).

You have to understand that to the people in MI who voted for Trump, there is no such thing as party loyalty. It's the people vs. the government. Which is how Trump won by explicitly making enemies of both major parties. So in Flint, they don't say Republican governance failed us, they just say government failed us. Who can we vote for that doesn't represent government? Party doesn't matter even a tiny bit to people in out-state Michigan. Trump is the anti-Snyder as much as the anti-Hillary.
And when Snyder was elected he was up on the same "business executive outsider" horse.
Having lived for years in both, I have seen a much different view of government in MN (integral institution and honorable career path of good people) vs. MI (charlatans and crooks who need to get out of the way so we can build stuff)

There is a reason even conservative think tanks said Trump would add trillions to do the debt on policy alone...

Sure. Then he'll just declare bankruptcy like every other venture he's run, and viola! The US Debt problem is gone!

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

He needs to do more than that...he needs to openly speak out and fast. The stories are piling up about what is going on out there. He and the GOP leadership need to get out in front of this now or it could get out of control.

And it cant be his handlers, it cant be the GOP leadership it needs to be him. These people were emboldened by him and his rhetoric and either he calls an end to it or we might actually see all out war in the country. People are scared...even here in Minneapolis people are freaked out about what is happening. People will only deal with this so much something will spark a much worse reaction...

I'm not expecting Trump to ever do a single decent or honorable thing. He barely qualifies as mammalian, let alone empathetic human. As I've said, he epitomizes the "love of money (...from such withdraw thyself)." The healing is going to be left to us individuals acting individually. Let's unite the country in common human decency and in mockery of Trump.

That was exactly his point. He'd rather be wrong than be told he's wrong and have to admit to it. Trump was the perfect choice for him in that regard.

What happened? One minute you're trying to win over friends, and the next you're calling people on the Right Nazis? You're not going to win many friends that way. Maybe try shooting them a smile and a pat on the back for a job well done?

I saw a Facebook post from an older friend who made the following wild claim:
His "Obamacare" premium for his mediocre silver health plan was to go up from $800/Mo to $1200/Mo. Now four times what he claimed to have once paid per month for traditional health insurance. This all from a letter mailed to him weeks before the election. He claimed to have called his Blue Cross rep yesterday, and was told "Now that Trump was elected, all the plans are changing! We can put you in a platinum plan for just $650/Mo!"

I have a hard time believing this horsesh**, but has anyone heard similar?

Only the part about large increases for mediocre plans. The part about it going down now is obvious BS. Even if it was possible, it isn't, no way anyone moves that fast. Don't believe it for a second.

This is the worst reaction to an election result I've ever seen from both sides (and no, the number is not equivalent between the two). We really need to be better. None of this is acceptable.

Yep, my parents are at $1,000/mo for a crappy HMO silver plan.

It might be time to send all of the idiots on both sides to a island to go Lord of the Flies on each other.

That is sad :(

(I understand a bit more now even though it is still highly illogical.

I can see it. When you have been screwed by a Republican led government and screwed by a democrat led government, it probably starts to not matter whether there's an R or a D next to the name on the ballot.

All kidding aside...the GOP Leadership would never let him even discuss that. (or defaulting on debt) The fallout from that would be disastrous...the "Party of Fiscal Responsibility" being in charge while that happens would destroy them for at least 2 elections.
