Are we looking at the same 538? There are at least two from October and late September.

I see one from the beginning of October and then one from the 12-14th of September. Nothing else more recent that I can find.

I'm curious given what's happened since the start of the month if the #'s have changed any.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXII: Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Politicians!

With all the traveling I do for work, I have yet to meet a Trump supporter under 40. Almost all of them have fit the stereotype - 50+, white, hippopotamous-shaped sales guys, squatting at the end of the hotel bar, half in the bag, and being whiny little b*tches. My favorite one was the guy in Minneapolis who was a farking Canuck and couldn't even vote for him. :D

I have seen up close and personally more Trump supporters younger than I am (51) than should make anyone comfortable. Many are quite young, in their 20s and 30s. Generally they seem to be ex-military, but that may be a gross generalization, to borrow a recent phrase, but that's my guess based on my own observations. The people at the Trump rallies and events I have been to have actually been a varied mix of ages. Most people are not bringing small children from the ones I have been around, but I have seen people from 15 year olds to people who look older than my dad. Majority male but not overwhelmingly so, and almost universally white. I don't what his final tally of the popular vote will be as far as the percentage that is non-white, but at his rallies and events it can't be more than 1 or 2%. At some I have failed to see a single person of color.

I have two nephews who are Trump supporters, but they have a history of just parroting my brother's (their father) views.

Just going by the likes of Facebook friends liking certain Trump-based posts, my cousin's son, who is late 20's is a Trump supporter. He lives in Wyoming. The others are well-educated mostly women in their 50s.

The other cause is globalization. This one is real, and the one I think we all need to be worried about no matter how this election goes. Abortion, guns, race, etc. are about beliefs and how you live your life but globalization is existential. I’m a lefty, and I get the arguments for a global economy but globalization has unleashed some powerful and fundamental changes on the world. I think we’re slowly losing the insurance of “people will always complain but as long as they’ve got something left to lose they won’t get too carried away.” People are beginning to think they have nothing left to lose. Whoever wins this election, and the next one, and the one after that better figure out a way to keep even a small percentage of those 40M Trump followers from sliding too far down that path.

The US economy is global. Period. And your best approach is to compete globally. To get out there, take on the world's best, make a bunch of cash doing it and reduce every American's cost of buying stuff. But as soon as you start to protect yourself, you both start to inherently limit American business while sticking your head in the sand. Talk about the slow downward spiral for the US. And that's the future Trump promotes.

My 5th grader has at least 3 "Trump Supporters" in her class, so I am assuming their parents would fall well into the under 50 Trump supporter group. At least one women I work with is a vocal Trump supporter, but she hung a tombstone for the USA dated the day we re-elected Obama, so not surprising.

This post, coupled with the stolen quote that has constituted my signature these many years, is what makes me sad.

Just stating the facts. I sort of liked Old Pio - he was the only guy capable of going toe-to-toe with Rover in the realm of over-the-top, ad hom-laden arguments.

As for Bob, he was a decent guy, but his tendency to play the martyr when he was challenged on anything got old fast.

someone needs to expand their social circle :D

Could he do that if he was President or is he just planning ahead?

Legally, I don't think there's anything keeping a POTUS from running a business or having business income in addition to running the nation. It's highly impractical for the POTUS to do such a thing, and questions arise as to the ethics of such ventures, but not illegal.

Don't most Potii (? :D ) put their business interests in blind trusts?

Yes. Fed Reserve Bank Chairs have done that as well. Not sure about VPOTUS, though.

As far as the age of the average Trump supporter it must be that the acquaintances of some you here simply don't get polled. ;) Trump currently has 9% for 18-29 for polls that include Stein/Johnson and only 29% 30-44. Even H2H he tops out at 36% up through the same :)

Perhaps you should read better ;).

We are saying that of the trump supporters we know...

wouldn't one guess there are more Young Republicans in college right now than 9% in the US? certainly more than 9% apply to GS :D

That's why I said your acquaintances must not get polled. :)

Amy Schumer’s Donald Trump Joke Prompts 200 People to Walk Out of Florida Show

People leaving her show is a "whatever" for me, but this stuff continues to get me:

The paper claimed Schumer was met with loud booing about halfway through the show when her jokes switched from raunchy topics to more topical matters, including gun control and the upcoming presidential election.

During her show, she asked a Trump supporter to join her up on stage so he could explain why he was voting for the GOP candidate. The audience member responded that he was voting for Trump mainly because he didn’t trust his opponent, Hillary Clinton.

Do people really not pay attention to what's going on? That Trump himself is as trustworthy as a Jon Lovitz SNL character? That he routinely makes things up, that every fact-finder there is has called his candidacy the least truthful by a landslide, that even FOX News shakes their head at his sheer gall?

I know I shouldn't be surprised, but the frequency with which this mantra is repeated still boggles the s**t out of me.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXII: Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Politicians!

Watched the John Oliver video on Johnson and Stein and that was well done. Absolutely nailed why neither of those two even deserve the thought of a vote.

But holy * the Facebook comments! Apparently John Oliver has been brainwashed and/or paid off by the Clinton Machine.

The fringe left may not have the racial toxicity as the alt-right but they are just as crazy...
