BU at Lowell, Lowell at BU 10/30-31

Re: BU at Lowell, Lowell at BU 10/30-31

i'll give the three playoff games they won in pretty convincing fashion last year before the league boned them the bad news, you moron.

They won the HE semi in convincing fashion? Didn't it take a miracle (although I've seen worse) to tie and OT to win?

Re: BU at Lowell, Lowell at BU 10/30-31

Been awhile since I have posted, and since I had a moment I thought I would chime in. Excited about the matchup is understatement… but I do have concerns. First, revenge… I hope that Lowell doesn’t play over their heads. One thing that could occur is playing at a high level which causes mistakes… extra pass, over aggressive fore-check, etc… The team and crowd are looking for something big, I just hope its not over aggressive to cause blunder. Second Mr. Millan is a stud and can single handedly steal a game. I am unsure how good the defense is in front of him, maybe BU fans can chime in, but I just know that kid can play. Lastly, Jack always influences and motivates BU to play hard… especially to an opponent that is considered talented and powerful. Plus that Michigan win could carry into this series…

As for Lowell, I expect great things this year, and this weekend could really set the tone for the team for months to come. Every aspect of Lowell’s game is solid, including special teams. I haven’t been this excited since the flying Frenchmen and high expectation Martin, Godoy, Walter team (which was the biggest disappointment).

My prediction:
Friday: Lowell 2-1
Saturday: Tie 2-2

Go Lowell!

final shots were something like 45-27 and both of NU's goals came, what, 25 seconds apart or something like that. lowell carried almost all of the other 63 minutes.

Now that I graduated, I live pretty far from BU, but I'm in Boston this weekend and would love to go to the Lowell away game. Any BU fans going have an extra seat in a car heading up there? More than happy to chip in for gas, etc. Been going to a bunch of NHL games, but its just not the same.

Are you guys going to raise a banner for that before the game? Yikes, standards are pretty low up there aren't they?  :D

nah, we didn't play the US development team so we couldn't squeeze such a ceremony in this year

I thought you were the US development team. Regardless, feel free to raise banners whenever you like. For what, I have no idea....:D

It begs an interesting question for Lowell fans, though. While I am not on the "You can't mess with destiny" bandwagon, given how BU progressed through the playoffs, with several important game winning/tying goals in BIG games coming off opposing teams' players, one could think that had that goal been counted or Lowell managed to actually put one past Millan on one of their several golden opportunities and the game was tied that - if BU were to score the game winner late or in OT - it might have gone off a Lowell player. Would that have been worse for you? I'm thinking no, as that outcome would have had some finality to it and what happened last year did not (because no one knows what the outcome would have been).
thank you

it would have given Lowell a fair shake, so of course it wouldn't have been worse than the way things actually happened. all we ever wanted was a chance to equitably play for something and an apology that we were robbed of it.

whatever happened after that point in the game would have been acceptable because at least everything would've been played on the up and up.
is this what UNH fans say to console themselves for the way the NCAA Regional Final ended? "a puck may have gone off our player, but at least we didn't have a tying/go ahead goal disallowed." I am sure that's exactly how UNH feels

and what about Miami... I'm sure that the way the GWG went in doesn't bother them at all.

DESTINY!!! THEY'RE A TEAM OF DESTINY!!!

Scarlet poses a silly hypothetical and you latch onto it like it proves something.

All we wanted is a game decided by the rules fair and square... losses suck sure but when you lose on the level its at least one that you admit actually happened. All this destined by the fate and the stars is better for some mythical story about beating back 40 foot tall serpents.

US Development team is U-18. I'd like to see how many UML players fit into that criteria. :p

44-27, don't give yourself too much credit. :p

UML did play very well in that game, and definitely is a mature team in pressure situations. They played much better in big games than NU did, that's for sure. I still don't think a one goal OT win can be considered convincing, since it very easily could have been a loss.

Back on to the game topic - they still sell fried dough there, correct???
Fair question. And I agree ... losing that way wouldn't have been worse. You can accept weird deflections in a game. Bad calls are much tougher to deal with. But it's sports, and **** happens.

Anyway, surprised a bit that Benedetto's doing this game. Should be interesting.
