Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

I was thinking when they get back to Boston tonight...

How about on the ice in lowell, Herb Brooks style and make the zamboni driver wait for an extra hour or two? They sure didn't do any skating tonight.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

They may be told to walk back to Boston. Tell you this much, if I passed them on the road after driving all the way up here, I wouldn't be stopping.

Thankfully I made the last minute decision not to go.

Should JackPa walk to? He's getting up there and it's getting cold...

If this happened to my team I'd be even more ****ed that it was the only game of the weekend.

All is not well in paradise. Free chicken from Raising Cane's if more than 2 regulars are benched next Friday.

Problem is, that if you bench all the players that deserve it, then you won't be able to field a team.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Didn't go...thank crist. Perusing the box score I saw a bunch of unsportmanslike conducts and even a couple 10 minute misconducts.

A gazzillion penalty minutes and got outshot 44-16.

More thuggery? Also appears as though Millan did his "I'm bored and don't really want to be here anymore impression".

How can he be soo good some nights and sooooo bad on others?

Again...Holy Cross didn't beat a good team.

All my sarcasm aside, the sad part is this team has a ton of talent and can play with anybody, when it wants to. Something is going very wrong here. You've got an entire week to prepare for one game against a team that you should beat. Somebody who knows much more than I do about things will hopefuLly help explain.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

I thought you had the evidence against 24 specific athletes....

I've already stated why I post in this thread. In regard to this topic, if you don't like it, don't bring it up. Move on to something new for once.

I do. Add up the players caught up in the betting scandal. Then the hoops players in trouble, not just in one year but in this time frame (so include Sconnie Penn for example). The add in the William Greens of the world. Then add in the racist e-mail crowd. Guess what, you're in the 20's. Now I'll let you sort out if its really 23 or 24 athletes if you like, but before you do that ask yourself why you're on a BU hockey thread desperately trying to extol the virtues of another school. I don't see UNH fans out here for example.

Look, root for your school. Just don't try to make it relevant for anybody else. As your own AD keeps making public, not even your own fans can be bothered to support the school, so why should the rest of us? I think you need to direct your anger at him.

Moving on to the subject of BU hockey, the problems with this team are more than evident for anybody who's been watching for a number of years. They don't play up to their talent level nor do they give their all game in and game out. As there's only one constant over that time, that's where the problem lies. Expecting that to change is like expecting the Pats secondary to suddenly be able to cover wide receivers on 3rd and long. It just ain't gonna happen.

7-1 ?? 44-16?? 17 for 50 minutes ?? Am I reading this right?? Obviously they have tuned the old man out. Something is REALLY wrong here. 7-1?? 44-16 ?? 17 for 50?? Seriously?? Where's the scotch and ludes man??

Again...Holy Cross didn't beat a good team.

Holy Cross ended a three or four game losing streak tonight. They hadn't won since they beat BU.

Someone made what may be a very telling comment about the type of players that BU has been recruiting. I think there may be more to that comment than I original thought.
It has little to do with their size or skills. But why they came to BU.
I think the comment went something like 'BU used to recruit players that wanted to play for BU. Now they recruit pro prospects and Agannis has become a way station on their path to the NHL.' Or something like that.

The local kids that came all wanted to play for BU. What happened afterwards could wait until then. Even the non-locals came to play for a tradition-rich college hockey program.

Now we have guys that can't seem to wait to to jump to ... the American Hockey League!?!
If they're not going to the NHL, they should stay in school. Riding the buses and playing minor league hockey is not any more than it sounds.

BU has a team stocked with NHL draft choices. Or, perhaps more accurately, has a collection of individuals that have been drafted by the NHL.

I didn't go tonight, instead chosing an ECAC game.

But 7-1? To Lowell? Really??? Lowell???

The box score says Trivino gave BU a 1-0 lead after 16 seconds. They must have thought that would be it, and the less-talented Chiefs (sorry, River Hawks) would just roll over.
The box score also says that BU was outshot 15-3 in the first period ... continuing their poor starts to nearly ever game. Only this time, they didn't rally. Being outshot 14-5 in the third period, when you are losing 6-1, is not exactly putting in honest shifts.
Sometimes numbers can lie, but those don't.

Something is clearly wrong with this team.
I'm not going to throw Parker under the bus, nor would I excuse him from blame, either.

This team needs a long, long look in the mirror.
That starts with Millan. Includes all of the skaters. As well as Parker, and the assistants.
Even if they are not as good as they think they are, or we had hoped they'd be, they certainly are much better than what they are showing now.
What that is, is nothing short of disgraceful.

Not really. As usual for any game getting lopsided, there was chippy play. The refs tried to keep it under control and that included some 10 min. At no point did I think either team was playing dirty.

Can we bench the coaching staff?

What an embarrassment. Too bad the leadership doesn't exist to fix it.

*sigh*

Ah yeas, still going back to the betting scandal...individual players under a completely different regime. You'll be going back to that till the day you die. I have news for you...that's long been forgotten and the BC football program went on a pretty good run. As I keep saying, get with the times. It's a non-issue anymore. What exactly did Scoonie Penn do? And William Green? Wasn't he suspended for marijuana? Hahaha, really, that's one of your examples of how problematic the BC atheltic department has been? You're a broken record. Again, stop talking about BC and I will not respond to you. It's that simple. If you want to keep looking like the fool you are, we can continue. Up to you. Definitely not trying to extol virtues, simply defending them from your propaganda. I'm not trying to "make it relevant" for anyone either. YOU started the whole thing with your typical, tired nonsense. Who said you should support BC? Give it up already.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

The new coaches at PC and UMass Lowell seem to have somewhat revived the programs, or at the very least been able to get the teams to play better. Just saying....
