BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Anyway, does anyone agree with Parker's benching Nieto this weekend. I mean really, how many classes could he have skipped this week. My question is why is Gilroy skipping classes, its not like he's going to play professionally. Sidenote, does anyone know the logistics of getting tix for the BU-BC b-ball game? Kinda wish we had played them last year when we still had Holland, but at least they've finally decided to play us.

BC basketball doesn't come close to sellouts unless Duke or UNC is in town I bet but you can order the tickets online anytime though

I would definitely agree with benching Nieto ;)

Harvard has beaten BC two (three?) years running. I'm not gonna pretend to know why BC hasn't played BU in recent years, but Skinner is gone now, so who knows what Donahue's philosophy is. Also, I believe Jones only coached under Donahue for a year, but generally, coaches don't like scheduling former assistants.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

24 athletes? Over how many years? And how does that compare to other schools? Something tells me you have no clue how it stacks up with other schools. I never said isolated incident. I said individual athletes. There's a huge difference. To say BC has been the most scandal ridden athletic department since 1991 is so factually off base it's not even worth arguing with you. And why are you so hung up on national championships in other sports? Please enlighten me, what sports should BC be winning national titles in other than hockey?

Stop pretending like BC is on the level of an Ohio State, USC, insert SEC team here. It's a complete fabricated myth on your behalf. Not even one BU fan would come to your defense about this.

So you're saying you'd dream of BUs athletic department being better than BCs? Well that's a ground breaking revelation. I would have though you'd like to be worse than BC.

24 athletes ought to cover Al Skinner's hoops teams, let alone anything going on outside of that. You're really hanging your hat on "its individual athletes" to make it sound better? Yikes. Yes individual athletes sent racism e-mails out, and threw a co-ed off a stool, and harbored a fugitive, and threw a football season. Do you want a medal for that or something?

You're right nobody's comparing BC to Ohio St. BC ought to aspire up to UConn's status, a program with multiple national championships, better fan support and a better football team even though they only recently upgraded.

Lastly, what are you even doing on this thread? Isn't there a BC one to post on, maybe to discuss the latest football game debacle.

Moving on, I support Parker benching kids for missing class as long as he's being consistant. A lack of discipline has plagued this team in recent years. Maybe he's "cracking down".

I thought you had the evidence against 24 specific athletes? Now you're just relying on jokes/false accusations? Cute. I'm not trying to make anything sound better. The facts are the facts. I'm just pointing out that these facts don't back up your accusations and it's not nearly as bad as you want people to believe (not than anybody does to begin with). If BU had BCS hoops and football, my guess is they'd have just as many (not many at all) "problems" as BC. It's not an indictment on the school itself. Save that BS for the real problem athletic departments. BC isn't one of them. You're not gonna find anyone who agrees. Just give up already.

Again, I'll ask you...what other sports should BC be winning national titles in? As for aspiring to be better than they currently are...another ground breaking statement. In regard to fan support, you do realize that UConn is a state school, right? And before you laud their great fan support, go check the numbers on their pathetic showing at the Fiesta Bowl last year (I know, I know, great job winning the craptastic Big East). If BC was in the Big East with Matt Ryan as a senior, they would have lost in a BCS game too...big freakin' deal. You're right about one thing though, UConn has a better football team this year than BC's worst in about 15 years or so. That's a huge accomplishment! Once BC moves on from Spaz and UConn is stuck with Pasqualoni (LOL), things will return to normal.

I've already stated why I post in this thread. In regard to this topic, if you don't like it, don't bring it up. Move on to something new for once.

And while you're at it, check out the number of tickets OU sold for the same game, and you'll find they only sold a few thousand more than UConn did. Because the BCS required anyone who purchased a National Championship game ticket (at the same venue a week later) to also buy a Fiesta Bowl ticket, the secondary market was flooded with tickets at one-fifth of the face value that UConn and OU were forced to charge. So you could get a seat at the 40 yard line in the lower level on Stubhub for $50, where UConn was forced to charge $250 for a seat one section over. But you're right, both of our football coaches are terrible.

Anyone else notice that the 11/13 game @ BC (Sunday) which was scheduled for 4 PM seems to have been moved to 7 PM?

If true that stinks since it's a Sunday.
. I believe it got changed from 7 to 4 so that link could just be not updated. I think Pats/ Jets on SNF at 8 would have affected attendance and ratings so they moved it but that's just my best guess I have no proof if it or anything

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

They aren't that many tickets left for this game since it is only a couple weeks away but the BU sections are in JJ, CC, and part of KK I believe. I would just grab any tickets you can and then attempt to find an open seat next to fellow BU fans. The superfrauds should be more than willing to help you though since it is the day of the sabbath ;)

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it :)

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

I was told by a friend near Providence that the PC President sent out a college-wide letter that condemned the "F-- U, BU" chanting that went on at Schneider Arena, saying that type of behavior is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.
It would have been more appropriate if one of the several priests in attendance had nipped it in the bud and done something about it on the spot.
But good for PC for clearly and firmly addressing the issue.
It was nice to see an actual crowd and spirit at Schneider Arena again, but they crossed the line of acceptable behavior that night and I applaud their administration for drawing the line on it.

Is it me, or does Clandening take an above average share of bad penalties?
