BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

please, no. once against bc was fun, but this is getting out of hand. also i can't for the life of me figure out why they insist on putting these games over winter break?

I don't think BU will be in this. Given the details BC ticket holders got, that would mean a BU game would start at 9 pm. Outside in January. Nope.

i suppose if the MIAA doesn't approve the game they'd call up bu and harvard. at least playing at 3 in the afternoon wouldn't be so bad, but it'd just be dumb and dilute the beanpot since the matchups would be identical three weeks later.

Once was enough (for now). Let Michigan play in their annual outdoor game (albeit at a different venue each season).

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Hope not. I need a few years to go by before the outdoor game will be a novelty again.

I agree. At this point, it is not a novelty.
It was fun the first time, but I am in no hurry to go back.
Cold, wet weather; overpriced tickets, concessions and parking; not a great place to 'actually watch' hockey.
This is overkill by the Red Sox organization, who smell the money.

Yeah, I have to believe that if it were happening that BU and Harvard would have gotten the announcement out at the same time as BC and Northeastern. If these games continue to be sellouts, expect Fenway games to continue yearly with various teams participating each year.

Go for it! I echo the sentiments of almost everyone else...once was enough for me! Maybe the Sox can add the money to the pile they will need to "purchase" a new closer after Papelbon leaves.

Well I'd also expect BU to be an occasional participant in it (if it keeps repeating like this)... there are only so many Boston / New England area teams to draw from.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

These Frozen Fenway games will end when the Sox make it a Northeastern home game, about 2,500 show up and the Dog Pound leaves its mark on the Monster seats! ;)

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

BC and NU's threads are buzzing about a rumor that their 1/14 game is being moved to Fenway. BU's 1/4 game v Harvard was recently moved to 1/14 and Fenway loves a doubleheader. Expect a Beanpot night at Fenway.

Please no. It was sooooo cold.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Boston Hockey Blog just reported that Gilroy and NiCastro will be benched Saturday at Lowell for skipping classes...they must have actually gone to 0% of their classes to get suspended for that

Good, let's get Privitera and Cisse in there.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Parker agrees with you. Why BU could still play at Fenway in January, and why Parker hopes it won't happen: http://www.thebostonhockeyblog.com/2011/11/frozen-fenway-on-horizon-for-terriers.html

So it sounds as if it is still a possibility and the final decision here is in Harvards hands... my assumption is still that if it has not been announced by now that it isn't happening.

Edit: I can't wait to hear the BC SuperFanBoys jump all over Parker about the comment of BU/Harvard being discussed long before BC. :D

I'd rather BC be playing at Conte.

Actually agree with almost everything he said.

Seriously, can you guys go one season without something like this popping up?

Benched for a game for skipping class? Eh, on the grand scale, that's not that bad, so long as it's an isolated incident. Kevin Gilroy's usually benched anyway, so that's not a significant loss. Plus, I can't remember the last time a player was punished for missing class. The last incident of that nature I can remember involved one of your guys and the C on his sweater.

By "something like this", I really didn't mean specifically missing classes. Anyway, as someone else said, highly doubt they just missed one class. I'm just talking about off ice incidents/suspensions.

Yes, a few years back, Boyle and Rooney lost their "C" and "A" for a game (or a few). Forget exactly how it was worded.

Not true. Boston College and the Fenway Group are partners and BC was always part of this deal if they could get another team to agree to it. I know this because I have a friend who works with the Fenway Group. Parker's comments are petty and typical when he mentions BC in any way. BU was asked but on the premise that BC or NU didn't want to play. In the end, Harvard didn't want to and NU did, hence BC vs. NU at Fenway. BU was the backup plan.
