BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

The "need to enroll in graduate school" comes from Parker, who said that's what Ruikka will have to do to remain a student at BU. I think he had enough credits to graduate last year. There's only so long you can delay graduation for before it isn't beneficial to be taking random classes anymore (trust me, I'm having this problem as well). The most interesting thing to me about Parker's comments on Ruikka was that Parker was not sure Ruikka will come back next year.

Could this be Ruikka maybe thinking that with his consistent injuries, he doesn't want to deal with any more of that, and just call it a career?

Perhaps that's why, with no senior d-men on the team, BU is bringing in Marc Hetnik, Jr., next season.

FWIW, I believe Jacques Jourbert played his final year of eligibility at BU as a grad student after he'd transferred to BU from Princeton.

And that's what sociologists dealing with intra-gender relations
call the 'mookie effect'.

You went to the game and the Patriots LOST. So your record of bad luck followed you to Pittsburgh thankyouverymuch.

I think mook's actual luck is at the sports book. You should be asking him to put money on the team you want.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Wouldn't it be nice to take a nice convincing win this weekend? I'm not talking blowing them out... but a nice straightforward win 5-2 or something like that where we were not down 2-0 at the start?

Hopefully the players remember the last 2 periods from Sat night and play that way from the drop of the puck.

I'm sorry I am unfamiliar with the term "convincing win" or "straightforward win". I think NESN released this stat during Friday night's broadcast... 53 of BU's last 83 games have been decided by one goal before this weekend so make that 55 out of the last 85 or a solid 65% of the games in the last 2+ seasons. Can't be good for JP's heart or any BU fan

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

That's my understanding as well, although I am admittedly not an expert on this. The example I always think of is Matt Leinart returning to USC for a fifth year and taking ballroom dancing and a couple other makeshift classes so he still qualified as a student.

That course load made Leinart the team valedictorian. Most of their guys don't qualify as students in their freshman year either.

If he's at BU to 'major in' hockey, that's not an issue. But for a guy who most certainly is not on a full scholarship and is getting a lot out of the academic side, I can see that.

BC and NU's threads are buzzing about a rumor that their 1/14 game is being moved to Fenway. BU's 1/4 game v Harvard was recently moved to 1/14 and Fenway loves a doubleheader. Expect a Beanpot night at Fenway.

Season ticket holders already got an email. The game is being preceeded by a highschool game (BC High vs. CM)

Would have made sense to give Harvard a chance to play outside as well but hey at least we will be warmer now.

Hope not. I need a few years to go by before the outdoor game will be a novelty again.
