Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Wouldn't be surprised if Chiasson returns as RW3--but on the first power play unit. Teaming him with Megan and Hohmann should give BU a third scoring line and hopefully get Megan back in the scoring column.

Another question is whether Privitera will return to the lineup. Normally you wouldn't expect blueline changes after an improved effort.

I would not mind seeing Chiasson/Megan/Hohmann as a line... (calling it whatever, 2nd line, 3rd line etc)... I agree it could give us a 3rd scoring line that we could roll out regularly. I'd hope that Chiasson wouldn't feel "slighted" that he is on the "3rd" line and let it affect his play in a negative way.

Good question on Privitera too... I had not even thought about that.

Overall, I liked seeing the team get their legs under them after the first period of Saturday's game.... hoping the result reinforces that hard working mentality.

When will we see Rollie again? I'm obviously not there for practice, but from what I've seen so far, I don't see any reason that he should not get more games. (If for no other reason, I just like hearing the announcer say "Chilliwack, British Columbia"!!!) :D

I wouldn't expect to see Rollie again until possibly 11/18 11/19 with the UVM, UNH back to back home games. I bet he gets one of those games but Parker almost always give Millan the nod when there is only one game in a weekend(like this coming weekend) so I would think Millan gets the start this weekend @Lowell and then probably the 2 starts against the top of HE the weekend after with MC and BC.

If Chiasson feels slighted, he will probably play better than he has thus far. He was a healthy scratch Saturday so I don't think Parker is too worried about him getting down on himself. Only thing I would worry about would be stupid penalties because he is certainly going to be playing with plenty of emotion after getting benched or I would hope so)

He should play if for no other reason that it should keep Millan sharper. If Millan 'knows he's not going to play every game no matter what,' he will have to maintain a higher concentration level.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Gill, Connolly, and Nieto are playing real good hockey. Its refreshing to see some kids with talent making a difference out there. After the 3-0 deficit I was predicting doom and once again drafting Parker's retirement speech for him. Maybe I should do that more often (the last time was in DC with a couple of minutes left in the championship game);)

Add Trivino to that list, he's really had a solid start to the season. Great on the faceoff, skating and hustling very, very well as evidenced by his goal against DU, working hard against the boards and winning 50/50 pucks, and been, with the exception of Friday night, smart with the puck.

Agreed. Trivino had an off game Friday but still seemed to be competing and has been really solid. The top two lines of forwards have been the bright spot of the team so far for sure. I think Rodrigues will really benefit from playing on that top line with Trivino and Connolly. Then with Chiasson, Megan, and Hohmann they should have three scoring lines with the Courtnall, Gaudet, Rosen/Gilroy coming in as a checking line.

ERod pulled off a nice little pirouette on Saturday night but the recipient of the pass blew the chance. He also tried dekeing through the entire team, and ended up just looking like ARod.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Electricity! WooHoo! OK...First period was a nightmare. Coyle's turnover in particular. The second UMASS goal was a fluky bounce on a clear attempt. Our PK isn't very good.

BUT...the second and third periods were great. Where has that team been? You can't keep spotting teams leads like this (PC,HC) and expect to win or tie.

That said 3/4 points is OK and hopefully the guys are getting it figured out.

I like Rodrigues's speed and competitive nature so far, but he tries to get a little too fancy for his own good sometimes. He needs to worry more about the puck being in the net than how it gets there/impressing people.

Also, the first edition of our monthly mailbag is up. Check it out.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

So apparently the BU announcers called the penalty called on UMA in OT a BU dive. Didn't see the game but I know many of you who were at the game will disagree.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Didn't see it, that happened in the corner I can't see from my seat. However, it would be a bit of a very poorly timed and ironic make up call for the embellishment call on #21 when he was boarded, which was also called. Can't say I've ever seen boarding and embellishment at the same time.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

I would have no problem if embellishment wiped out the initial call.

I don't think it was a dive. I don't remember the play perfectly but I am pretty sure the UMA player hit him in the back about three feet from the board and that gets called 99% of the time in Hockey East. I guess it could have been a dive but it would have been a hell of an acting job.

Exactly, but it did not. UMass guy got called for boarding, Escobedo called for embellishment. It's gotta be one or the other, unless you amend the UMass one to a cross check or roughing that the checkee tried to embellish into a board. Nonetheless, I had heard the UMass ot penalty was borderline. Shouldn't be making borderline calls in OT unless there's a major safety risk.

Where did you hear that? I watched the game on All-Access and the BU announcers thought the call would be boarding. No mention of a dive. And the replay confirmed that.

I didn't notice the UMass coaches or players complaining about the call.
