Brewers signed Alex Gonzalez to another one year deal.

Lohse mentioned - but not likely

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Overbay signed with the Red Sox.

OHHH well (get it!?!). :p:D

Other than Cirillo, can't remember a guy coming back well after his prime and making an impact. Just always liked Lyle.

Still got my bobblehead.

Gonzalez will back up Gamel at first while Hart is out. I really like re-signing him. They can start him if they need to, otherwise he's a good, experienced backup and mentor for Segura.

I realize that we do know their names, but this rotation still makes me think of this (warning: nsfw language):

and I hope it ends up more like this (again, nsfw):

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Position players report today.

First of the position by position articles, on everyone's favorite subject - the bullpen. It mentions Axford made a small change in his setup that he hopes will improve his consistency. We hope so too. :p

Other notes from the blog posts: Narveson feels good; no pain, Aoki will begin Spring Training leading off, Brewers are not after Lohse.... and Yo got a haircut.

Mat Gamel out for season. Does that guy have the worst luck, or what?

I don't think we can ever count on him to be a regular contributor. Next man up...I guess.

He got through half the first workout, I freaked out when I read that.

Reading that Carlos Gomez backed out of the WBC made me a little panicky, but they said he just wants to concentrate on the season.

Names mentioned as possible 1B: Bobby Crosby, Taylor Green, Hunter Morris, Sean Halton, Alex Gonzalez. That's not a great list, but hopefully Hart comes back quickly.

I like TG a lot but he hasn't proven he can hit consistently.

Reading that Carlos Gomez...

Is he going to have the job full time now or are they planning on another platoon?

I hope to see him out there every day.

Here's to hoping Taylor Green takes complete advantage one of his road blocks to playing time has completely fallen apart for him. I was thrilled that he wasn't involved in some of the prospect packages (He was mentioned as a possible PTBNL in the Sabathia trade) of the last few years but we shall see if he can finally succeed when given a real chance (if he's given that).

The center field article was today, and it certainly sounds like Gomez is the man. I imagine that could change if he doesn't repeat or improve on last season, and Logan Schafer (or someone else) steps up. He's certainly exciting to watch.

In former Brewer news, Darryl Hamilton joined MLB Network as an analyst. Always liked him as a player.

Shaun Marcum has been taken out of the Mets rotation to "strengthen his shoulder". I am shocked. :p

btw, in case you didn't hear.. the Italian Sausage costume went missing for awhile, showed up at a few bars in Cedarburg, then was returned unharmed. No word if the person got the reward offered of free mustard for a year.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Well, just as long as they kept it away from Randall Simon...

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Yo pitched an inning in an exhibition game for Mexico and felt good. He's scheduled to pitch vs. the US on Friday at 8 pm (on MLB Network).

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Thornburg and Hellweg sent to Nashville.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

An article today suggests Gonzalez has the lead for backup at first, and Green as the other side of a utility platoon for the infield. Have to think Rogers is NOT in the lead for a spot in the rotation, but I'm not sure how Peralta, Fiers, etc are doing, either.

19 days til Opening Day. :)

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Brewers sign Gomez to 3 year, $24 million deal.

Link

I like Gomez and he had a decent season last year, but can he replicate it? Is he worth $8 mil/yr? I'm not so sure.
