I admit, I fail to comprehend your exact point here.
The contention is the chain of custody was broken. That means all the results don't matter anymore because no one can be certain beyond a doubt that the sample itself was not tampered with. Once it was determined the chain of custody was broken, which was determined by the 3 person panel, the fact that the lab results exceeded allowable values is irrelevant. Does that make sense?

Yeah, that's how chain of custody works and why it's often easily challenged. Your wording in the last post just confused me, that's all. We run into it at work here all the time, though that's with water/soil samples. Nonetheless, it's the first thing the lawyers go after since there is very often an error somewhere, even if really minor and meaningless.

That said, since that's how it works...the chain was of course violated in this case and as such the results were appropriately thrown out on the appeal. Thus, no punishment, which doesn't change the fact there was synthetic testosterone in his system.
