Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

I managed to get 2 tickets for Game 1 in Bernie's Terrace and 2 tickets in Terrace Box 438 Row 1 for Game 2. Now we wait to see how the schedules line up. If the Games 1 & 2 are Saturday/Sunday and Sunday is an earlier game, I might be able to do both if for some reason the contractor isn't working saturday. Otherwise someone on here will probably get the pleasure.

My uncle got 4 obstructed Terrace for Game 2 (probably got worse seats because he needed 4). I think the first time he went in, he got SRO, but then tried again. It's possible we won't even have a game 2 at home, but if he got Game 1 tickets, there'd potentially be 5 people that wanted to go, so he scheduled it so his daughter can't go. :D (I would still go to Game 1, though, hint hint!! ;))

So who is getting the good or average seats? Are there that many season ticket holders?

a friend of mine got 3 seats for game 2 in section 123 row 8. From what I read, there must be enough current season ticket holders and enough people that plopped down the deposit that most of the good seats are taken, at least for this first round.

I also know that 20 game package holders get a shot at post season tickets first too.

Like I wrote earlier, if you need someone to take the tickets I'm definitely interested. :) I'm undefeated in my Miller Park appearances this year. Okay, so it's only 1-0, but I'm still batting 1.000!

per Adam McCalvy
Official: Gallardo in Game 1 for #Brewers.

C'mon Dodgers! Make tomorrow meaningless and relaxed.

They tried. Scored 5 in the top of the 10th to make it 6-1.

A walk-off grand slam by the D-backs wiped that out though.

I was rooting for the Braves just out of spite, but now I really don't want to play the Dbacks. We'll have to trust the Astros (against Chris Carpenter). ;)

I don't have a lot of warm fuzzies about the starting rotation right now, so a good outing by Greinke would definitely help (sorry to report I am going, and my record is below .500 this year). If we have to play Arizona, at least get home field.

Think TBS would have Brian Anderson do the Brewers series?

Just in case you don't have enough to worry about during the game, you can concern yourself with the batting title race. Jose Reyes got a bunt single in the first inning and was pulled from the Mets game.

<a href="http://www.jsonline.com/newswatch/130719198.html">According to jsonline</a>:

Braun needs to go 3 for 3 or 3 for 4 tonight to finish the season with a higher batting average than Reyes

jsonline also tells us - for those of you who care about that silly sport with the oblong ball - that TBS does not want to put the Brewers on during the Wisconsin-Nebraska game, so it's a good bet they'll have an earlier game.

Are you guys really throwing Greinke tonight rather than saving him for Game 1? I know home field advantage is on the line, but I think I'd rather have Greinke available for 2 games of a short series.

Edit: I guess you can bring him back on short rest for game 2, then have him ready on normal rest for game 5 either way...still not sure I'd want him on short rest in game 2 instead of extra rest for game 1, though.

I guess they will have to suffer with Gallardo being available for 2 games instead. ;) I believe Marcum is going in Game 2, then Greinke in 3? The Brewers are the only playoff team with a losing record on the road, so I'd say home field is a big deal for them mentally, and today is still a huge game. Plus, getting home field means they wouldn't have to play the Phillies in the first round. If they end up playing Philly, I like their chances much better in a longer series than a short one.

Greinke doesn't like long rest, thats why he's going today, so he isn't off until Game 1. I have a feeling Greinke will pitch at home and Marcum on the road so the rotation depends on the results of today.

Brewers as #2 seed
Game 1: Gallardo (7 days)
Game 2: Greinke (3 days)
Game 3: Marcum (7 days)
Game 4: Wolf (7 days)/Gallardo (3 days)
Game 5: Gallardo (4 days)/Greinke (3 days)

Brewers as #3 seed
Game 1: Gallardo (7 days)
Game 2: Marcum (6 days)
Game 3: Greinke (5 days)
Game 4: Wolf (7 days)/Gallardo (3 days)
Game 5: Gallardo (4 days)/Marcum (3 days)

I read earlier in the week that the plan was to only pitch Greinke an inning or two and then get the rest of the bullpen some work. Then Greinke would still be available for Game 2.

That was before today had meaning. I know they plan on using Saito, Hawkins, Rodriguez, Axford an inning each regardless of score to keep them fresh, so Roenicke needs to find 5 innings from everyone else. We'll probably see some combination of Greinke, Narveson, Loe today in the first 5 innings.
