It's a **** good thing this race isn't close right now, because I'm not sure I could handle it. Hopefully it stays that way.
Ugh. Well, it just got a whole lot closer these last three days. I was hoping they'd pinch hit for Gallardo with 2 on, 2 out in the 4th.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Nice rebound against Houston to maintain the 3.5 game lead. Disappointing to see Lincecum not be able to help them out.

As far as the division goes, if the Brewers go 10-12 the rest of the way 18-5 by the Cardinals wouldn't be good enough. I'll enjoy the Cardinals' series no matter what. Beating LaRussa is fun but if they don't win the series being inhumane and letting them die a slow death when their fate is inevitable is kind of funny as well.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Magic number down to 13. The only race still reasonably in play for the Brewers stays at a 3.5 game lead over Arizona. nN the last 10 days that 2-3 seed race may be the only thing in the NL still in play.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

I live the looseness he brings. I'm sure guys like LaRussa are going crazy but it's generally harmless fun. One thing I wouldn't mind though is a good untuck after the Wednesday game if they win it. Something for LaRussa to stew over all offseason.

Lead still 3.5 over Arizona.

Nyjer Morgan is going to get one in the earhole sooner rather than later. There was no reason for him to pull his crap tonight. You guys are having a nice season, but this idiot is going to get a Morneau-sized headache. This isn't the first time for this knucklehead.

What the hell did he do?

Carpenter blew him away on a fastball above the belt. Not inside at all, mind you, just a good, clean fastball. Carpenter turned away as the catcher threw the ball to the 3rd baseman. Nothing out of the ordinary there, either. Just another strikeout, next batter up, please. Nyjer stares out at the mound, while Carpenter's back is turned, starts dropping f-bombs at Carpenter, and on the way back to the dugout, throws his dip in the general direction at the mound. Carpenter still has no idea that Morgan is yapping and being an idiot. When the 1st baseman (presumably Pujols), comes towards the mound, Morgan starts yapping again, and eventually both benches and bullpens empty. Morgan is eventually ejected. This paragraph doesn't do the incident justice. You should see it for yourself.

He's going to pull this against someone named Kyle Farnsworth, and someone like Kyle is going to put his jaw on backwards for him. There's also a lot of guys in the show now that can top 95 that won't hesitate to put one in his cheek, Dickie Thon-style, either. Million dollar talent, 10-cent head. He was a problem in Washington, as well. Anyone else remember him throwing his glove on the ground in the outfield because he missed the ball, while the batter ran the bases for at least a triple, from last season or so?

@Haudricourt: #Brewers Nyjer Morgan insists Carpenter dropped an F-bomb on him after whiffing him, leading to Morgan's response, including tobacco toss.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

My vantage point is from MLB Network. It looked like Carpenter struck him out, turned away like he normally would after a strikeout, and went about his business. Given Nyjer's past, I've got to take his insistence with a grain of salt here.

Watch the footage (I hope there's something readily available soon) and judge for yourself.

Looked that way to me, also. But if Carpenter did drop an F bomb then you could argue Morgan overreacted to it... but he didn't really do anything provoking. He barked and threw his chew but he was walking back to the dugout as he did. Pujols was the guy who escalated the incident to a near brawl. I'm sure Morgan's reputation had something to do with it...

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

I looked on MLB.com for footage of any of it, and as of now, nothing is available.

I would find it hard to believe that there would not be a camera other than behind center field that would show another angle. *shrug*

I saw that, too. Pujols is certainly no angel here, but I would also keep in mind that Morgan was the only one ejected here, too. History indicates that your CF has issues, but at this point I'm sure that's no great revelation to you guys.

Can't see much of what Carpenter said or did, but that's mostly because of the camera work. Could be some broadcast homer-ism protecting Plush.

I've lost track of which of Nyjer's twitter accounts are real and which are parodies, but if @TheRealTPlush is him, he's not backing down:

"Where still n 1st and I hope those crying birds injoy watching tha Crew in tha Playoffs!!! Aaaaahhhhh!!!"

"Alberta couldn't see Plush if she had her gloves on!!! Wat was she thinking running afta Plush!!! She never been n tha ring!!!"

That's the real Morgan alright. I fully expect him to be beaned by the cards next year, whichever team he's on. Those are great tweets, btw.

Morgan said Carpenter used expletives directed at him and then turned and walked away. That's what set Nyjer off.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Rickie Weeks is due to come off the DL in time for tonight's game vs the Phils. The plan is to use him as a PH for a while to get back in the swing of things. Brewers were 56-49 when he was hurt. They're now 85-59, which means they went 29-10 in his absence and went from a 0.5 game lead to 8.5 games. Not too shabby. I hope they keep Corey batting leadoff and put Rickie back behind Prince when he starts playing everyday. McGehee just ain't gettin' it done.

Not that it excuses Morgan's behavior, because nothing does, but history indicates Carpenter can be a hotheaded ******* as well. When Nyjer came back to the dugout after the previous inning, he did The Beast (not sure if it was directed at the fans or his teammates). I am guessing the Cardinals didn't like that too much and Carpenter decided to share his opinion after the strikeout. Morgan certainly didn't need to react like that, and Pujols certainly didn't need to react to Morgan like that. That would have been the end of it if Pujols hadn't done anything.

I'm just happy to have a little fire in the lockerroom with Nyjer. It's nice to have someone to back up their antics with solid performance. Sure he's not batting too hot right now, but he certainly stepped up when needed this summer.

Is he a pest? Absolutely. He's the type of pest I'm glad is finally on our side and he seems to fit in well in both the community and clubhouse.
