Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Could have sworn Pearce also got into a little trouble along the way...

Anyway, Wisconsin was the other team going after VinSap (sorry) when he committed to BU...wonder if he joins Bennett in Madison?

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

i agree with all of this

i will disagree here and say the pearce situation was probably a lot more like saponari's situation than people would believe. also, i did not mean to imply that pearce was one of those who 'worked his way back'. He was removed from the team, refused to transfer, and was ultimately taken back by the team. so it was more like he called JY's bluff.

I think the Vinny Saponari situation was just the opposite of Bartlett and Bennett. From his comments during the 2nd half of the season, he was pleased with VS's game performance. The attendant problems brought about his ouster.

If he does, good luck to him. My impression of Eaves is that he's very much no-nonsense.

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

yes. pearce was implicated along with pineault after 2004. both were removed from the team; pineault left school, pearce stayed. the coaching staff didnt want to pull his scholarship, so they were basically forced to take him back on the team in 2006 - rather than give out another scholarship to a different goalie and have pearce ride out 2 more years at roggies.

agreed again. we must of had a missed message the first time around.

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

You seem to underestimate how little of a life I have. :D :(

I'll raise you one:

0/2 vs. U. of Toronto
10/8 vs. Holy Cross/Wisconsin
10/9 vs. Holy Cross/Wisconsin
10/23 vs. Providence
11/6 vs. Maine
11/12 BC, UML, MA or MC (Probably not BC)
11/13 BC, UML, MA or MC (Probably not BC)
11/19 vs. New Hampshire
11/20 @ New Hampshire
11/23 vs. Harvard
11/27 vs. Brown
12/03 Probably BC
12/04 Probably BC
12/11 @ Rensselaer
1/1 vs. Minnesota St-Mankato
1/2 vs. Brown/Notre Dame#
1/22 @ New Hampshire
1/23 Possibly BC
1/28 @ Maine
1/29 @ Maine
2/4 MA UML or MC
2/7 vs. Boston College
2/11 MA or UML
2/14 vs. Harvard/Northeastern
2/18 vs. Providence
2/19 @ Providence
2/25 Probably UVM, other possibilities BC, MA
2/26 Probably UVM, other possibilities BC, MA
3/4 Probably NU, other possibilities UVM, UML
3/5 Probably NU, other possibilities UVM, UML

Too early to guess at the others, once 1 or 2 more schedules are released (ideally MA, MC or UML) I should be able to get 90% of the schedule, assuming of course that no Fenwayesque games causes mass chaos and rescheduling, again.

On the schedule topic, do any of you know if the Fenway game really counted as a BC home game? BC was supposed to get two games at Conte last year against BU, but because of Fenway only got one. What's the deal this year?

It was listed as a BC home game, I don't know if they will award BC two home games again this year (making the Fenway game look like a neutral site game where BC got last change) or give BU 2 home games this year (making Fenway look like a BC home game). I think since ya'll got the side with better seats at Fenway there should be 2 at HAA this year;)

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Does anybody know if Vinny has made any comments regarding a possible transfer?

It would be interesting if he went to another Hockey East team just to rub it in Parker's face.

http://www.dailyfreepress.com/sports/vinny-saponari-shocked-by-dismissal-1.2258421

"Saponari is still unsure about his hockey future, but said he was considering redshirting through next season and playing at another university.

'I’m really not sure right now,' Saponari said. 'I’ve been in contact with my people and my family, trying to figure that out. I just found out today, literally a couple hours ago, so I haven’t really thought about that. I’m just trying to take this all in because this really has been a shock to me.'"

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

I blame mookie for this, but hey anything beats studying, so here goes
O: Officially Announced (could still change, but last year the only reason games changed was for Frozen Fenway)
S: Strong Prediction (I'd be willing to wager a few bucks this game will take place
M: Medium Prediction (Depending on my mood you'd be able to talk me into betting money)
W: Weak Prediction (Not getting any money out of me)

10/2 vs. U. of Toronto
10/8 Ice Breaker vs. Holy Cross/Wisconsin O
10/9 Ice Breaker vs. Holy Cross/Wisconsin O
10/15 @ UMass W
10/16 vs UMass W
10/23 vs. Providence O
10/29 vs UML M
10/30 @ UML M
11/5 vs NU W
11/6 vs. Maine O
11/12 @ MC M
11/13 vs MC M
11/19 vs. New Hampshire O
11/20 @ New Hampshire O
11/23 vs. Harvard O
11/27 vs. Brown O
12/03 @ BC S
12/04 vs BC S
12/11 @ Rensselaer O
1/1 Shillelagh vs. Minnesota St-Mankato O
1/2 Shillelagh vs. Brown/Notre Dame O
1/8 @ UVM W
1/14 vs MC W
1/21 vs/@ BC S
1/22 @ New Hampshire O
1/28 @ Maine O
1/29 @ Maine O
2/4 @ UMass M
2/7 Beanpot vs. Boston College O
2/11 vs. UML M

2/26 vs UVM S

3/5 vs NU S

The one thing I noticed was that last year's schedule seems to be very similar to this coming year's schedule for the HE team's that have announced it so I tried to mimic last years as much as possible. However, I tried to mimic the tentative schedule BU had pre Frozen Fenway since that schedule fit better with what the rest of the league was/is doing. Also the Beanpot went from falling as early as possible to falling as late as possible, so that caused a slight shift from last year to this year.

The most likely change I see is one of the early games with UMass being moved to early/mid January in the same weekend as either MC or UVM.

FL/Hammer, where did you hear/read about the U Toronto game?

TBA is correct we swapped years with them, so BU will be in it next year. If you were planning on going you should consider going to Hoffman that weekend instead.
