Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

is this a new development or were all these culprits already considered in the recent penalties/bike rides?

The bike rides were punishment for the 13-15 players drinking. The whole team participated in the bike rides, but they were punishment for that one incident. Victor's and Vinny's dismissals were for cumulative transgressions. Victor's dismissal had nothing to do with the bike rides. Vinny showing up late for one of the rides was the last straw for him.

My initial story had inaccuracies because my original sources were not as close to the situation as BU Hammer's sources for this latest story. Naturally, more people were willing to talk once the story was out there.

I apologize for digressing from the crime beat here. Last summer, Joe Cleary, who captained the BC Hockey Team in 1992 passed away leaving his wife and young son.

The Hockey community spearheaded by his teammmates have organized a benefit fundraiser on June 5, 2010 to assist his family. The event will be at the Ritz Carlton from 7-midnight and there are auction items featured on the web site.

The BU Hockey Alumni are getting behind this event along with others in the local college hockey community.

Go to www.joecleary.org for further information as to how you can support this worthy event.

Thanks

These rides were with real bikes, not stationary bikes.

Biking along the Charles as punishment? Is the coaching staff going soft? How about Herbie's at 5AM? Or running the steps at Harvard Stadium? Or some running laps up and down Summit Ave?

They could run up and down the steps over at BC and then take a peak at the banners over in Conte. If that's not motivation...

Actually I think this is a team thing. Players and coaches need to look in the mirror.

Maybe... but it wasn't the coaches out at the bars, on what should be the most important night of sleep for the biggest game of the year.

That, to me gives them the biggest piece of the blame pie.

Now, if you want to say that the coaching staff should not known more about who they were recruiting then I'll go along with that.

In the article, it says the current team captain was involved in the drinking incident. Does it mean shattenkirk or one of the captains on this upcoming team? Just wondering.

One of the new captains.

Misdirection and ambiguity in the same article:

-->1 AM on March 18th - Um, that would have been early Thursday morning or late St. Patrick's Day depending on how you look at it.

-->Including a current captain - 9-10 captain? Current? My $ is on Colby

The upshot is: There will be a lot of new faces and names to match with the numbers next year. :p

How are either of those misdirected or ambiguous? 1 am on March 18 is pretty clear to me. So is current captain. Are Shattenkirk, Gryba or Bonino currently captains? No. And Colby was never a captain, so you'd lose that $.

And your point is?

Fine. I'm sure. BU Hammer nailed (haha- Hammer, nailed- see what I did there?) every other aspect of this story.

As long as we're joking, maybe both of you reporters need to check your "sources" again.

This episode was only the last one, most certainly not the first or second, as others have already suggested. And Parker himself has already conceded that he let some things slide too long this season. Make of that what you will. A team rises and falls together.
