Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

I don't know it was a pretty nice goal. I'm sure there have been nicer, but they don't happen too often.
Funny thing about that goal, if you watch carefully, it seems to still be going well wide (and high) when it first deflects of the blade of his stick.I'm fairly certain that it must have then hit off of his derriere to give it the right trajectory to get into the net. Either way, definitely a nice goal.

But to suggest that he is a critical piece to a successful team is a stretch. He had one good stretch a couple years ago where he put in some goals, but other than that, he is a borderline 4th liner on a good squad. I guess a better way to put it is that if you told me he would be on one of our top three lines next year, i would be concerned about the caliber of our team. No slight to him, he just isn't the caliber of player that is going to help get us some hardware. I agree he worked hard.

my favorite gerbe moment was when he grabbed a dman's sweater (getting old, can't remember who exactly - maybe sullivan) and fell backwards. sullivan fell on top of him and got a penalty.

gerbe's hockey i.q. is off the charts. when he would jump the boards i would watch him skate exclusively.... didn't even care where puck was. it was a pleasure to watch him play for those years.

Schaeffer.

Agree with everything else you said. He was an absolute doush of a player, I'm a fair judge since I was as well ;). Main difference is he also had talent.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

You're totally right. BU teams unaffected by the Patriot League move will continue to exist in a vacuum from all other sports programs in the athletic department. Furthermore, this news is not interesting at all to those who frequent this specific thread.

My bad guys. Move along.

You should know better than trying to engage the BU posters on any subject other than hockey during the middle of June, we're way too focused.

So, back to hockey...I hear they are buying a couple dozen new hockey pucks for early season practice, can anybody get down to the loading dock, video the delivery and post it on here so we all can witness the event?

Also:
Who is in charge of weighing every puck this year? We need to update the database as these new shipments come in. Once that is done we'll re-do all the graphs and we'll have something to talk about over the July 4th holiday.

Hold off on all discussion regarding whether the water for the ice should come from the city water pipelines or if we should truck it in from Moose Jaw...if we start on that now we'll have nothing to talk about in early August.

Good ones! Actually smiled that we are talking hockey again, even if it is goofing around... thanks....

I disagree. It was Gryba. Those two did not like each other.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

I miss Eric Gryba. Some of the meanest, hardest hits I ever saw. Some stupid things too but he was fun to watch

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

How is Gerbe holding onto Gryba's sweater?

Nah. He just broke Colby's wrist.

Sounds pretty similar to Zancanaro injuring Stephen Gionta. Still remember Gionta taking the number and lining him up in the Beanpot for quite a collision in the corner. Point being, it happens both ways.

Can anyone tell me unequivocally if 4 year walk on with another year of Eligibility who played HUGE on the biggest of stages and is along with Ryan Ruikka one of only two players who were even in the building red-shirting during the 2008-9 run? I am speaking of Ross Gaudet. Gaudet went from being a 4th line or even a 13th forward to being so important that he spent the entire season after scoring the GW goal during RED HOT at MSG v Cornell with a pretty a goal as you will ever see scored in the NCAA and after that GAUDET seemed to be Coach Parker's most trusted defensive forward logging more PK ice time than any other Terrier (similar to the Role Chris Drury played for Team USA in 2010 Olympics) and the hardest working guy on the ice.

BU already KNOWS a big part of the reason they lost the BP for a 3rd consecutive time in history this past season is because there was not enough local representation on that team. BU certainly did not have six seconds more energy to keep a clean sheet in the first OT of the 2012 Beanpot.

The only reason I am not positive that Ross Gaudet is definitely off the team is a) I think he should not only be on the team when the team takes the ice in the fall but He should be wearing a Captain or an Alternate letter on his sweater, b) The COLLEGE HOCKEY NEWS which has a very current roster for all other teams still lists Gaudet as a 2012-13 team member, and c) the already thin team needs his play as no one goes harder or gets more out of less.

Please get me a definitive answer one way or the other.

Scott

Dear God this was painful to read. And I thought it was gonna be Blake Bellefeuille in disguise. Couldn't you have just simply asked if Ross Gaudet was gonna be on the team?

And did BU fans continually deny, years after the fact, that it happened?

Well, considering it's never talked about/brought up by either side...I have no idea if BU fans deny that it happened. Hell, some might not even know what I'm referring to.

I can neither confirm nor deny knowingly forgetting any such incident.
