Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Ok...deep breath.

Not necessarily noting that the PC game is the most important moment. However, believe the HEAC Tournament and following NC2A opportunity is in a sense, a critical moment in the BC program.

In 2007, Stack/Schaus were crucial leaders in the path to the frozen four. As they now play their final games, believe it imperative that this team advances and can represent itself as one of the elite programs in women's hockey. To be in the class of a Wisco, Minnesota, UMD, Harvard..and until this year a UNH, BC needs to prove themselves.

Taking nothing away from the underclassmen, and many have stepped up, I do not believe current roster members can impact the outcome like Stack/Schaus do. This is the opportunity to take the program to a new level.

Two roads diverge in the woods and I [Robert Frost]...I believe a strong and decisive win against PC and BU will lift the BC program to a new place. Just saying ......

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Beating PC and BU would make me as happy as that quarterfinal win over Dartmouth in '06 I think.

I think we have a team that could win the whole thing.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Okay, so, I'm coming to the conclusion that if we *don't* win the Hockey East title this year, I'm going to pretty much throw a tantrum.

It will not be safe for me to drive. Thankfully, I can take the T.

Nice Hockey East recognition and honors for members of the BC squad:

WHEA First Team All Stars:
G. Molly Schaus
F. Kelli Stack

WHEA Second Team All Stars:
F. Mary Restuccia

WHEA Honorable Mention All Stars:
D. Meagan Mangene
F. Danielle Welch

Congrats to all and know that there were several others; particularly on the defense, that were deserving of the honors.

Go Eagles.

Congrats to girls for a gutsy comeback. Giving up 2 in the 3rd and loosing lead...some would quit. Team stayed poised, played hard, continued to skate. As I have mentioned...really believe team needs to prove itself and this could be a breakout season for the BC program. Took a very important first step today. On to Northeastern....and a first ever Hockey East championship. Aside from goal scorers, shout out for Welch & Motherwell who were flying & grinding tonight. Go BC!

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

looking back at yesterday's game vs pc, i thought the 2 week rest really helped bc. many of the players that were tired from the many end of year games and also nicked up, came out strong. in particular thought wasylk, motherwell and bizarri had an extra step. the bc second line seemed to dominate pc second line and caused much havoc. except for some extremely questionable officiating that allowed pc to capitalize for 2 goals (2 man advantage and 1 man advantage), the shots on goal clearly summarized the theme of the game. Once again the pc goalie, lacasse was absolutely incredible and the only reason why the game was close. fortunately for bc, the outcome this time was different than the earliers season game where lacasse stole the game with 51 saves. did i say she was incredible. congrats to the eagles for persevering. once again, it's the elite players that make the difference and stack was once again that player.

today, if bc plays their game the outcome should be similar. northeastern is the hot team right now with a big victory over bu yesterday and uconn last week. they seem to be playing with more speed than in the past and that could test bc's speed. bc did display breadth and depth in scoring yesterday with 2 of the 3 lines contributing and the second line tallying twice. this bodes well for bc today and hopefully they get a chance to play next week.

go eagles.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

I thought we played excellent yesterday with only a few mental errors. It was the best power play I've seen out of us in years, despite the 0 PPG. Heard they changed some things up. It worked well.

Oh man oh man oh man, I want this win...

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Also, for those of you who don't follow the NCAA Tourney Selection thread, a win today will probably send us to Walter Brown again next week against the struggling rat dogs.

Oh my goodness, I would welcome that with open arms.

A loss probably sends us to Cornell.

Congratulations Ladies on your first HE Tournament title! Well deserved! Now keep it rolling into the NCAAs

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Congratulations ladies. Excellent performance against a good NU team. Good luck in the NCAA's.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Amidst all the whining from other teams about the bracket, BC has the toughest road to the championship of any team. Let's just run this gauntlet and leave no doubt.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Having said that:
Good luck
Thank you. It is appreciated.
I am think 4-1 Minny next weekend.
BC has has played Minnesota three times in its history. All three times, Minnesota was *heavily* favored. BC is 0-2-1, but has never lost by more than one goal.

I believe that this Boston College team is better than the Gophers. Clearly the committee felt that way as well. But that's why they play the games.

Now please, please, please keep your inane posts out of the BC thread.

Yep. The whining is pretty funny. The NCAA sent a pretty clear message. Don't lose 9 times or you won't be hosting.

Or maybe it was "win less and you will be hosting".

Eagles:
Record: 23-6-6
Winning percentage: 65.7%

Gophers:
Record: 26-9-2
Winning percentage: 70.3% :p

I'll believe it if I see it, I don't at present. I do believe "the committee" is f'ed up. It's NCAA tournament hockey...I believe it'll be a good, if not great game.

Edit: The goaltender duel will be particularly interesting I think.

Oh I *completely* agree. While we can easily agree to disagree on which team is "better," I think these two teams are the closest, talent wise, in the tournament field and this might be the best women's hockey game I personally will have ever watched. Definitely looking forward to the Raty/Schaus duel. I would be very surprised if either team gave up 4+ goals.
