Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

agree with all points and would add:

- no interest in passing the puck to one another. based upon previous match-up against maine (which bc won), players tried to skate through the maine team without any interest in passing.
- team is tired and injured (although most teams are in this same position at this time of year).
- puck just did not bounce bc's way.

expect a much better performance this evening. it was one of those nights.

You see Tony,

Team played terrible- Too many people trying to play alone-
Power Play is struggling --- Power play is worse than struggling 2 goals in their last 21 attempts- I WOULD SAY IT'S TIME TO MAKE A CHANGE ON THE POWER PLAY-
although BC had many shots on MAINE goalie, they were all poor quality shots--- and weak shots ----many from the outside---

The power play isn't moving the puck well at all---

IF they continue to play like they did tonight, they will have problems holding on to a playoff spot-

In all fairness, your last three games have been against PC, BU and Maine - all quite decent records at the penalty kill. Also, get your stats right, it has only been 17 - the others were all offsetting.

And no, Vell, Westy is a parent (most likely a mom) whose daughter isn't on the 1st two lines of PP :D

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

wakefield is a massive girl with a thunderous shot that was certainly dangerous, but i never saw her pass or even cross center ice into her defensive zone..

That sounds familiar.

Beanpot/ Harvard game on Tuesday should be a very good game- harvard has been playing very well as of late--- came from behind to tie Northeastern and then win in a shootout last week- 3-3 tie with Clarkson on Fri, and beat St Lawrence today 3-2 in OT, BC 's play has been up and down lately- tooo one dimensional at times depending too much on Stack---- Harvard seems to have a much more balanced team

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Harvard's been playing ok but nothing spectacular. They're still giving up either 2 or 3 goals every game, more often 3. I don't think BC will have any trouble matching that. Meanwhile Schaus has been better than earlier this season, while Harvard's offense is also more consistent. And BC gave Harvard one of its worst losses in the last decade (6-2) already this year. I think this'll be closer than last time, but BC will still take it. I'm thinking 3-2.

I am not so sure BC will take it- Lost tonight to Maine 4-3--- Maine scored 30 seconds into the game on a defensive lapse- BC gave up too many odd man rushes again--a couple on power plays---
one for a goal
Was looking forward to BC taking a big lead (so that 4th line might play a little- and some of the players that never see the ice may get a shift or two)
It is rare that Shaus gives up 4 goals in a game --Hopefully BC can pull it together and turn things around for Tuesday

yeah, this game stunned me too. Seems like BC doesn't have much left after overcoming BU. Harvard seems to have all the momentum since the comeback Tuesday, now a last second win vs SLU. I agree: revise my pick to 3-2 Harvard.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

BC seems simply out of gas and out of "heart". Maine wanted last night's game much more than BC. Maine played desparate, motivated and capitalized on their opportunities. They seemed to win most 50-50 matchups in the corners, behind and in front of the nets. BC on the other hand fiddled with the puck behind their own net, usually lost it and then was required to play defense. Once again, Maine did a good job of keeping BC on the perimeter and thus many of BC's shots were easily blocked by the Maine goaltender or never made it through.
If I'm Coach King, I tell the girls to take Sunday and Monday off. Get ahead on their studies, rest up and be ready to play at 200% on Tuesday. Despite beating Harvard earlier in the season, this game sees two teams going in opposite directions and BC needs to change their direction quickly.
Go Eagles.

Let's go BC! I've only been to a couple of games this season so I don't know what to expect, but doing the Beanpot Double would make for a very nice week.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

What can you say. BC has gone 6-1-1 since January 28th and along the way have beaten several top ranked teams and won the BEANPOT; again. Team needed a few days rest after this weekends disappointing results against Maine, but proved that they were the better team in the 3-1 victory over Harvard. Great team effort. The defense was back to its old self providing Harvard with a limited number of good opportunities. When those opportunities did develop, Schaus was there to shut things down. The offense showed some good spark, but once again faced a tough goaltender who did not make it easy for BC. With 20 wins and just 2 games left, BC has accomplished much, but still needs to finish strong in order to attempt to secure a spot in the NCAA's. Congrats to all for a very hard fought and well earned Championship victory. Go Eagles!!

IT IS OUR BEANS POT!o

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Has any goaltender been as dominant in the Beanpot during their career as Shaus has?

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Not sure many goalies in Bean Pot history would have started/played in all Bean Pot games for all four years running? Total GA BC/Schaus: 2007 BP=4, 2008 BP =4, 2009BP = 1, 2011BP = 2. Not sure total saves (although did have 73 vs Harvard in 07) but numbers have to be impressive.

Wilcox must have done something. Wasn't she just put into the Beanpot hall of fame?

To be totally frank, I think Wilcox got inducted more as a nod to BU becoming a varsity program and starting to actually be a factor in the beanpot than her goalie stats. I'm assuming there weren't a lot of BU names in any beanpot honors since BU was a club team playing against D1 varsity.
