Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

To be totally frank, I think Wilcox got inducted more as a nod to BU becoming a varsity program and starting to actually be a factor in the beanpot than her goalie stats. I'm assuming there weren't a lot of BU names in any beanpot honors since BU was a club team playing against D1 varsity.
I hadn't noticed this: http://www.beanpothockey.com/women/hall.html

Looking at the history, it appears that it's one per school per year. This means that for BU you pretty much skip 20 years of history and jump to the present day.

I think it's fair to have more Harvard and Northeastern inductees to reflect the fact these schools took women's hockey seriously decades before the other two did. Of course this is reflected in the total # of titles already.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Would agree that Wilcox, a great representative for BU and a good goalie, but believe Hall of Fame induction represents recent BU elevation in play & recognition. Actual goals against, saves and over all statistics (including # of BP games played) would not compare vs Schaus. If question raised was does Schaus dominate modern Bean Pot goalie play...

Changing gears... Final weekend match ups; UNH home & home. Saturday at Conte...2:00 start. Also Senior day, last home start for Hart, Kurth, Schaus & Stack. Sunday up at the Whitt. Big series as moving into Hockey east play off's. BC coming of big Bean Pot win...UNH playing tough and fighting for a final playoff berth. Is BC real and consistent? Or will UNH look to rekindle past glories?

Another important series involves BU at Maine. Maine is still alive for a playoff spot. Maine had an earlier season loss to BU but could redeem themselves at the Alfond.

Northeastern v UConn will decide the remaining home host for the quarterfinals.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

If not for Schaus, BC wouldn't be what they are...she is phenominal.....hopefully she will prove human tomorrow and we can make the playoffs.....we out played 19 eagles today, tomorrow it has to be 20!

....we out played 19 eagles today...
If you say so, but claims of outplaying Kingston may be rather hard to support, unless you have pics of traffic jams waiting for the gate to open. :p

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Winning Hockey East would give us at least a chance to move up to 4th in the PWR.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

ARM, you miss my point....it wasn't to denegrate the other 19 Eagles, it was to promote Schaus! again yesterday whe was the difference....if you don't get he chance to have a goal crease scrum or get her moving from side to side, with a one timer, she will make the stop 99 % of the time....just mho.....in watching Stack, how is it the ref allows her to wear her elbow pad outside the uni? Are you allowed to have any equipment exposed like that?

OK, I must have....please explain...I'm not being facetious

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

because of schaus' superlative goaltending capabilities, she not only tends to shut down the oppenents, but the BC team also plays with more confidence with her in goal. Thus, she has benefits to both the offense and defense. Did not take your comments as a slam to the others on the team as even the best of goalies need up front support; and BC as a team has delivered this support.

He was making a joke about Kingston being the back up goalie, whose only action during the game was to man the door to the bench. Thus it would be hard to say that UNH out played her.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

OK...game on BC. Providence in the semi's. 2010/2011 series BC 2-1. Some tight games although IMHO believe BC brought more speed and team play. Providence is well coached and can always bring great goal tending. BC needs to play 3 consecutive periods...pressing in ofensive zone...staying out of penalty box...other than Stack...find some goal scorers.

Pushing through to finals....BU, BC can not repeat Beanpot performance. Nice goals by Stack/Restuccia...but way too many odd man rushes. Schaus can keep you in/win many games, but BU consistentently strong. BC needs a complete/team performance to pull off win.

Going to come down to preperation, coaching and gut time execution.

Tony.....Val....somebody, Talk to us. This is the most important moment in the BC Women's Ice Hockey history. Frozen Four in 2007 was a bunch of freshman over-achievers and determined seniors who did not know better than to show up and play. They got back to NCAA play in 2009...loosing to the Minnesota Gophers in a good rebound game. Stack/Schaus lead team, if they can stay hot...and rest of team show up....could press Hockey East and gain advantage in selection process. Providence a good team with with good coaching... albeit a "Vocal" Coach...what does Kinger counter with? Bring it on...

Let's take a breather here... haha

If we beat PC, then be in one of the biggest games in BC history. A semi against PC doesn't quite make that cut.

Having said that... soooo excited. I should be there for the semis, and definitely the finals, assuming BC makes it that far.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

nothing overly exciting regarding the game other than bc knows what it has to do. great senior class that has brought many victories home to the fans of chestnut hill. the underclassmen have developed and will play a key role in this weekends events. leveraging their speed and intensity and two week rest should bode well for the eagles. a victory on saturday would seem to lock up a ncaa final 8 bid; can't figure how it would not, but i'm sure if north dakota wins the wcha and a non cornell team wins the ecac, it could get complicated. on the reverse side, a loss on saturday vs pc still has bc in the hunt for a ncaa bid, but it becomes very dependent on what others do. will be at the game(s) this weekend and looking for another championship to be coming back to the Eagles. need to reiterate what a great year it has been for bc as well as an overall career for the seniors. Go Eagles.
