Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

You guys know if anybody on BC going pro early? Please say Kreider and Atkinson :).

Not that it matters since Jerry seems to reload rather than rebuild.

BU's roster is looking pretty thin with C Cohen, Bonino, and Shattenkirk all jumping ship. Some good recruits coming in though.

You know...I root against BC b/c I'm a BU guy and make no apologies for that. BUT...as a huge fan of college hockey I'd be lying if I said that your program doesn't impress the hell out of me right now.

Last year when I bought my FF tickets off Craigslist, I've come to realize that I have more in common with hard core college hockey fans of any team than with most people, even some casual BU fans.

Last year I met a nice gentleman at a coffee shop who was selling the FF seats. At first he looked a tad tentative when he noticed I was wearing BU sweatshirt. I mentioned that I was a season ticket holder at Agganis and as it turned out he's a season ticket holder as well, only at Kelley Rink.

I ended up sitting a chatting with him for 1/2 hour over coffee and enjoyed the hockey conversation tremendously.

Not once did I yell "BC sucks" at him or did he chant "Safety School" at me. He even emailed me congratulations once the title had been won. Classy.

Since that day I remain a fiercely loyal and loud BU fan, and I try to keep it positive.

Sometimes I even try chatting up Maine, NU, UNH, and BC fans at Agganis. This often has mixed results.

I guess many of us are in the "silent majority" after all.

Great post. There are few better experiences than meeting true college hockey fans on the road. Doesn't matter what colors they're wearing - people who are truly passionate about the sport, not just one team, tend to be great people. It's what makes the Frozen Four a special event. I think I got pictures with fans of maybe eight or nine different teams.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

jcarter, do you have a favorite NHL team that we can make a "stay away" bet about? How about UVM women's lacrosse? Anything?

I do have a favorite NHL team, but alas there are no bets possible. And nope, no bets for a while. BC and UVM will be one of the first games played, so we can put down a bet then. But, you are stuck with me for the off season. Which I know some of you are happy about since a fair share during a BC NC run spent more time on the UVM thread then they did their own.

Dear Pike’s Peak Members,

Due to the large number of RSVP’s we have received for the 61st Annual Pike’s Peak Hockey Awards Banquet, we will be moving the location of the banquet from Corcoran Commons to a larger venue on campus. The banquet will now be held in the Welch Dining Hall located inside of Lyons Hall. There is limited parking available in middle campus adjacent to the “Dustbowl”, that can be accessed at the Main Gate of the college. There is also additional parking available if you enter the St. Ignatius Gate and park in the Commonwealth Avenue Garage. Once you have parked here, you may take the elevators to the top floor of the garage. You will exit near the O’Neill Library. From here, you can proceed into the quad where you will see Lyons Hall.

If you have yet to RSVP for the Banquet, please call Cyndi Manke at 617-552-3028. The cost is $75 a person and checks can be made out to the Pike’s Peak Hockey Club. Please bring a check to the banquet .

Attached are two links, one is a map of the campus dining halls and the other is a link to the Lyons Hall Dining website.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

it was a great post and a lot if not most are from BU fans, BTW, IMO. funny that this rivalry seems to me to have much mutual respect and also that the flame wars are usually not ,if ever, (i know, i am relatively new on here) between BU and BC fans, at least that's what i've noticed.............i wouldn't have guessed that reading the threads early on in my time viewing and posting

Do you have to be a member?

Call them and ask. Ask them if you can go in as a guest of a member. Usually a member has 2 membership cards to enter Pikes Peak.

I remember hearing once that you didn't have to be a member to go to the banquet - is that true?

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Two questions...

1. Does anyone have any info regarding the contract extension in the works for York?

2. When does his current contract expire? I seem to remember him getting a pretty lengthy extension after the 08 season.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

I want to see an exhibition with Canadian national champion St. Mary's before the season. Make it happen!

Last year BU and New Brunswick had a chance to 'unify the belt' in pre-season play, but they tied.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

I know some people have speculated about our schedule for next season, when does it officially come out. September? August? I feel as though the freakin football schedule is released like eight years prior to that season yet the hockey schedule is in limbo for a while. I'm already looking forward to next year. The Heights reported that Cross received offers from the Bruins but chose to stay here, and Cam Atkinson's parents seem to indicate Cam will also be staying. I'm very excited for next year!

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Long ago (yes, I'm old enough to remember) BC would play McGill University out of Montreal at BC's old McHugh Forum. Do they still have a hockey program up there? I'd also like to see BC play some exhibitions up there and I think it would be an appealing trip for BC fans...modest drive and a nice city.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

I finally figured out a way to put up all of our goals from the National Championship. Here you go. The video quality isn't perfect, but it's not bad.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8CyYyiC0HRo&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8CyYyiC0HRo&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

(If it isn't working yet it's because it's still being processed)
