Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

I was driving into Boston today and I saw that eyesore BU National Championship sign right before exit 18...thank God that is coming down.

Since it just went up about 4 months ago, I imagine it will remain up for a while. Your 2008 one didn't go up for a while either. I have no idea who is responsible for those things but they do seem to take their own sweet time.

They just wait until the end of the year. After all you can't be the 2008 champions until 2008 is over :D

Based on that speed, I'm guessing it's done by our fabulous State Reps. First it goes to a committee, then it gets referred to a sub-committee, then it goes back to a committee, has a hearing, gets passed on to the full legislature, then disappears for awhile until the Speaker of the House chooses to slip it in somewhere as a bargaining chip, then it passes unanimously without debate. ;)

Methinks we'll get ours posted as soon as the Mass. casino bill passes. Get it? BC alums like to gamble! har har.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Has there been any info about team appearances (sox game, B's game, etc)?

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

They're gonna be at the Sox game Thursday - lamely, the night of game 1 of the B's series. So I will pass on going to game 33 of a 559 game baseball season to watch the B's on TV, even though I would have loved to go to Fenway to see BC players throw the first pitch.

Joe, you're going to like what I have to say. The Sox game is Friday, not Thursday.

I'm disappointed but not terribly surprised that the Globe didn't cover the rally and that the Herald only printed two photos without a story.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Are there any pics of BC's uni's for next year now that Under Armour is taking over?
I am *really* looking forward to this. You just know UA is working extremely hard on this; they really want hockey teams to start signing on with their brand, and BC is the first to do it.

I would be surprised if UA didn't have an entire committee whose only job is to work on the BC hockey gear.
BTW, hopefully York's 850th win is recognized today at the celebration.
I'll say it was!

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

The old Reebok jerseys are on deep discount at the bookstore, alongside a lot of other Rbk stuff. I liked the Rbk replicas and how they had the Hockey East patch; I hope that continues.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

just to restate the obvious.... y'all knew you'd win because you won the beanpot, right??

;)

I really don't know if this is true. Guess we'll have to wait and see. I've stated my opinion before. I bet they're simply reverse engineering the RBK edge uniform to start off if they want to get in on the uniform deal otherwise you'll see them allow BC to go to another manufacturer or they could dress something from another manufacturer with their logo (you see this often in the AHL with guys wearing some Eagle gloves that are stamped with the RBK logo because they have an exclusive contract in that league with RBK). This was a move for football and hoops and to get a good foothold in the Boston market. They know nothing about hockey and it's a tough thing to break into and they're light years behind in R&D from the likes of Easton and Bauer. They won't be beating out the titans in the industry for skates, sticks, gloves, and other protective. That really leaves them in a position to try to work on the uniforms... otherwise, I'm not sure hockey will be affected.

But again, who the heck knows... I could be dead wrong... have been plenty of times before.

I had heard that the story going around the sporting good supplier world was that UA way overpaid for their contract with BC. The story also was that part of the reason they paid so much was because of the hockey team. I don't know what they are doing about skates, gloves, sticks etc, but they want to break into hockey and the quickest way is to do jerseys.

While football and basketball are both big reasons, I think hockey was the biggest selling point for BC

well you think y'all lost to msu in '07 for some other reason!??!!?:p
Speaking of the MSU game USCHO had that MSU picture up for about 2 months afterwards on the top of the front page. The BC photo is already relegated after only 3 days. Last time BC won it did not last long either. What gives?
