Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Hey everyone,

I grew up in Boston, and I still live in Boston. I bleed maroon and gold, and even though I'm three years removed from graduating college, I still dream of working for them one day in some capacity. I love this city, I love this school, and I love that I'm a Superfan. People need to realize that Boston College is at the forefront of college athletics. It's a school that graduates most of its student-athletes while fielding competitive teams in every sport. They are what the NCAA should be looking for in its member institutions.

I might support Brown and Bentley during the year, but my heart is always in Chestnut Hill. Congratulations on a great season, and let's make it three-out-of-four and back-to-back next season! (unless of course you play Brown or Bentley, in which case I hope Baldwin can forgive me).

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

If Muse is back next year, I don't see anyone else starting in net once March rolls around.

Exactly. Milner will get PT, but Muse is the guy yet again in the playoffs.

The senior class next year is going to be Gibbons, Muse, and Whitney. I think we're in good hands but both Gibbons and Whitney are gonna have to cut down on the penalties.

Better hope Kenny doesn't see that...

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Not to cut from the buzz of winning the championship, but does anyone have any idea what the schedule looks like for next year? If not, when does that info come out?

Can't argue with that, but why is BC bring in two goaltenders next season in Billett and Barone? That's a total of five if you include Venti. I wonder if Muse will be back.

So far this is what I've been hearing/thinking:
@ Denver x2
Wisconsin
Harvard (most likely)
Beanpot x2

That seems to leave us with one open date...which I haven't heard. It appears Notre Dame is off the schedule next year. I doubt we'll play another WCHA school so that last game would likely be vs. an ECAC or CCHA school. Also heard rumors we might be in the GLI, but that would put us over the 34-game limit (unless the GLI is exempt from that?).

There's certainly the potential for a logjam in net. To be honest, not sure anyone really knows who's coming/going. Ideally, Muse is back, Milner the backup...not sure where that would leave Billett.

BC played 36 games in 2007-2008 (no exhibitions). That included the Ice Breaker and Dodge Holiday Classic.

27 league
2 at DU
Wisconsin
Harvard
GLI
Beanpot

That's 35 games. Where did you see that Notre Dame is not on the schedule? One missing game would either be an exhibition, CCHA, or ECAC team.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

And while we're on the topic, despite the easy win Harvard will provide, would anybody object to seeing them dropped from the schedule?

What is it with playing Harvard? I'd like to change the scenery a bit. It's just not an OOC game that I necessarily want to see...plus we play them in the Beanpot frequently

I saw it said on this thread. It does seem to make sense though...because the schools do like to make a weekend out of their football and hockey games against each other (they have for at least the past 3 seasons, and it was done in the early 2000's when Notre Dame was on our football schedule) and the football game is on October 2nd this year, which is too early for hockey season. I have been wondering what would happen to the BC-ND hockey game since the football schedule had been announced.

The Athletic Department, Harvard, and the alums who remember the days when Harvard was good. If you're talking basketball though, I'm sure the Athletic Department would agree with you. :o

Not anymore, we got the Harvard slayer Steve Donahue...

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Notre Dame is sick of getting their *** wooped by "Frodo" in sports so they are going to just protest playing us all together. Which is fine by me.....I thought the hockey program was going to shun the football team and continue playing us, but I guess not.

Not that I care that much because ND is a lot of talk and not a lot of bite in all sports. Talk about relying on past achievements to pimp your sports.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Just thinking about this NC, the person I'm most happy for on the team is Carl Sneep. Not only has he been constantly dogged on all BC boards during his time at the Heights, he was forced to leave the 08 NC game early because of an injury.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

I've heard that we will no longer be playing Notre Dame, at least for the next couple of years - perhaps to open us up some slots to travel to the North Dakotas, Minnesotas and Michigans of the world.

I'm all for dropping Harvard from the OOC schedule. If we're gonna play a craptastic local team, spice it up by playing someone new every now and again - how about Holy Cross, if we want a traditional rival? Or Bentley? (okay, that would be slaughter)... maybe RIT? That would be a hot matchup these days ;) I also would love to see us play Cornell and travel to Lynah one day.

plenty of time for that. for now, just point and laugh.... point and laugh

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

By the way, the official schedule usually doesn't come out until August, although we'll probably know a vast majority of the game dates in June.

I like that BC will supposedly be participating in the GLI because I think it's awesome that BC will have a chance to win arguably the two most prestigious in-season tournaments in the country in the Beanpot and the GLI. The unfortunate thing to me is that it's less than a year after the FF in Detroit; I'd always wanted to travel to the GLI to see BC, but I'm not sure I can justify two trips to Detroit in less than a year.

Assuming I lock down steady employment for next year (;)) I'd love to fly out to Denver for that series. That one, World Jrs. in Buffalo and the St. Paul Frozen Four will make for a fun season of traveling and seeing new places.

As for the home opener, I'm guessing it'll be a Hockey East game around Oct. 15 if it's not Wisco. UVM and NU are usually likely early-season matchups.

I'll post some Detroit pics tomorrow.

i'm thinking maybe York would.......the non-beanpot harvard game wasn't easy, but it should have been...........that was December though, different animal;)

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Anyone go to the parade and the rally? I wanted to but I'm at work until 7.

BIG improvement from the 2008 snoozefest inside conte. I think there were way more people yesterday than in 2008 as well. I had a great time and thought it was done well. How proud are we of our guys?? i stayed afterward and just hung around and watched the players interact, ESPECIALLY with the young kids who wanted autographs. Way to go guys, a classy group of young men, a credit to Boston College........Thanks again, Jerry

If BC's basketball team could play Harvard's hockey team, maybe they'd beat them. Maybe.
