Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

You didn't happen to read Nyquist stating he will be back did you.......
Besides the pro's give it a few days before they start announcing.......We'll talk at the end of the week :D

Muse's numbers don't stack up to say Thiessen, but I think his stock is almost as high as it can get. There is certainly more risk then reward if he returns for another year regarding his pro career.

Atkinson is still only a Soph. so I wouldn't be surprised to see him stick around, but he impresses me the most by far. He's like Nyquist, in that I secretly wish they would bolt for the pro's, but they are so fun to watch....

someone on the Maine thread said over the weekend that it was a certainty he (Nyquist) was coming back.......he's sensational

He's quotes as saying he will be back next year in one of the ME papers. So I think yeah its a pretty sure thing. Think ME's season will depend on what happens with goaltending. Darling comes back or one of the other tenders step up they are going to be good again.

But Nyquist and Atkinson are both awesome and exciting to watch. A step ahead of the rest IMO.

Kudos

Kudos

While I'm a diehard Brown fan, I just want to congratulate all you Eagles fans.

BC never fails to play exciting hockey, even in lopsided games. This was a well coached, disciplined, motivated, highly skilled BC team - once again. New England is proud to claim you guys.

If anyone is buying merchandise, the NCAA shop is a lot cheaper than BCEagles.com.

Anyone go to the parade and the rally? I wanted to but I'm at work until 7.

FWIW:
The Red Wings' GM told Nyquist to stay in college, at least through his junior year (per an article in the Free Press).

As I joked in a Maine thread: can all of our draftees be drafted by Detroit?

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Diehard Brown fan...can't say I've ever read that before.

I was at the ceremony. Oslin does a good job. Band and cheerleaders rolled in first.

Usual suspects were there, Gene, Father Leahy. Grace and Hodge introduced everyone individually. York was accompanied by Father Monan (the man who hired him).

Lombardi carried the Beanpot, Smith the Lamoriello Trophy, and Price the NCAA trophy.

Unveiled a championship banner and York's #17. Announced it is going to be retired (word is after Gibbons graduates).

I've always thought that DeFilippo looked like a 'Suspect.'

I also suspect that this is the first time he's ever paid attention to the hockey team.

DeFilippo is the penultimate autocratic AD who has everyone by the short hairs.

But Jerry York has DeFilippo by the short hairs, and both guys know it. Right now, BC athletic 'pride' is almost exclusively within the domain of the men's hockey team and probably the women's basketball team. Men's football & basketball are starting to take on a 'University of Miami' feel and I don't like it. Which, curiously, are the two sports DeFilippo pays most of his attention to.

What exactly is a University of Miami feel?

Still talk about Muse "losing" his job? Come on guys, I would fully expect a rotation like we saw this year, but we all know and everyone on that team knows who is in net when the playoffs come around. I don't think his stats jump out at any team like a Thiessen, so I'd be surprised if he leaves.

I've been the biggest Muse defender (username stands for John Muse Superfan #1, a name mockingly given to me by several Muse haters last year), but the fact remains that it is a possibility. He's going to have to earn it again next year and I don't think he'd have it any other way either.

If Muse is back next year, I don't see anyone else starting in net once March rolls around.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

yeah, but he HATES BC ................i heard him and his buddy Felger have a hate fest last week on 98.5 . After listening to Felger, i think there isn't a person on the planet who hates BC more than he does, moron

I'm shocked no one mentioned this earlier. He made a royal *** of himself. I was amused, but...

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Found this pretty funny in a Herald article from today:

The Badgers placed a little extra emphasis on spraying ice as their starting lineups were announced.

“We noticed, but, you know, it’s just the starting lineup,” said Smith, who will join teammates for a trolley car celebration rally today (5 p.m.) at Kelley Rink. “You can’t win the game in the starting lineup.”

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Thinking about next year, the one thing we lose a lot of is the leadership of Price, Smith, Sneep and Lombardi. If anything, these guys set the tone for the team.

The senior class next year is going to be Gibbons, Muse, and Whitney. I think we're in good hands but both Gibbons and Whitney are gonna have to cut down on the penalties.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Anyone else cringe at USCHO's declaration that BC won with a "Twin Cam Engine"? Terrible.

INCH is OK by saying BC is "Ford tough," but I like CHN's best: "BC Does It."
