Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

No kidding there, wow

I will tell you one thing where USHR is wrong, he did not sign a LOI as he had a 2/4 and they were on the backend
If it was on front end he would of stayed as he was hoping to leave for pros about that time. If that happened he would have gotten zero

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

That 4th line is better than 4th...

Ferriero is a sleeper with an attitude/edge and will score goals.

If he comes in ready to play, could add some fire. Might be most ready physically of the new class

Cody Ferriero (Essex, Mass.) of Governor’s Academy. Ferriero is another small but skilled forward who could be drafted in June, much like older brother Benn, who is in the San Joseorganization after a standout career at BC (drafted by Phoenix). The younger Ferriero is arguably this New Englandclass’s most talented player, but he needs improvement in his maturity and discipline, in the words of several scouts who acknowledged the upside, but have issues with his attitude

mildly ironic that you would pump up his upcoming impact at the same time claiming to break the story that he just de-committed.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

It's not about BU. I hate hiding info like this, but I hate reporting rumors even more.

well he said bu would be happy and bc would be sad.

to me that would only qualify if someone picked us over them. i don't enjoy seeing anyone leave early. i want to see our boys beat their best. if someone leaves or leaves late or whatever this is he's talking about, that doesn't make me happy.

a great season for bc to me would for them to go 35-6 ;)

Sad state of college sports today. As far as I'm concerned with that attitude good riddance. Guess the fact the team is absolutely loaded and should be a contender (if all goes well) for a NCAA title isn't enough for some kids. Being a 5th round draft pick won't mean jack unless you can produce at the next level, and BC would be been great exposure for him.

On the flip side, what kind of deal did Benn have? Was he 4/4? Just wondering if perhaps money was the issue here. Although his older brother could have picked up part of the tab for Cody, too, if it was.

mookie as usual is correct and I stand corrected;) maybe the ferriero thing is what he was talking about, time will tell i guess......... us go 35-6?? i'm thinking that's not gonna happen any time soon. those dream seasons are few and far between....

He was a 4/4

If he has an attitude problem then this may actually be good news. The last two times attitudes were cleaned out at the beginning of the season BC won it all, the Motherwell/O'Hanley and Ryan situations. It may give the Brown kid a great opportunity as well just like Mullane got last year. If Brownie plays anything like his Dad or Uncle he will be an all time great before he is done.

that's exactly what I was thinking - this is Brown's chance, the way Ryan leaving gave Mullane and Carey guarantees they'd play. Both took pretty good advantage.

BTW - from what I'm hearing, I'd guess Hokydad's other tidbit is that Jimmy Hayes is being pushed hard by the Blackhawks to go pro. Since the 'Hawks are in salary cap jail and have had to gut a lot of their roster, they are enticing him with the idea that he could go right into the NHL - they feel good about Hayes' chances to contribute.

We'll see.

From what I've been reading, the Blackhawks (and a lot of other teams for that matter) seem to be filling gaps by trying to sign AHL players and newer recruits int he hopes of getting inexpensive 3rd or 4th liners. They just signed Leddy for example.

Ferriero is a sleeper with an attitude

Hokydad was right!!!

If it was on front end he would of stayed as he was hoping to leave for pros about that time. If that happened he would have gotten zero

So a 5th round NHL draft pick was hoping to go pro after two years at BC? That doesn't seem to add up IMO.

I think Ferriero decommitting counts as making BC sad and BU happy. New rumors about Hayes--we'll see.

Agreed. This doesn't seem to be about parents interfering or coaches trying to back out--this sounds like it's all the player...and I don't understand it. What changed his mind so late? The fact other players were being taken care of with full rides? If so, that's pretty poor on his part. If anything, that'd make me want to work even harder once I arrived. It's not like the coaching staff all of a sudden tried changing the offer.

J. Whitney-Gibbons-C. Atkinson
Kreider-Arnold-J. Hayes
Carey-Mullane-S. Whitney
Almeida-Brown-K. Hayes

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

BTW, given the Ferriero connection to BC and the fact the coaching staff is in Bermuda...is this something the two sides can discuss in person when they return?

It's as if Cody is calling their bluff...

no bluff calling here...

I would guess, and only guess that no one would walk unless another option was in place or a strong chance to seal.

no way Arnold is on that line.

Arnold is a great player and kid but not with Kreider and Hayes, not yet. Maybe in Feb/March

Just curious - is it common practice to offer a recruit, who has been selected in the NHL Draft, a 2-year scholarship rather than a full, 4-year deal? Is this unique to BC or do other Hockey East schools do the same thing?
