Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

not to join your thread but , just curious , how long did that take , and please tell me you at least used a calculater.UNH' s age?
i would think all are ok to join the thread........well, almost all;) but on collegehockeynews web site, go to schedule and for each game click on "compare" and it gives a little statistical breakdown of the 2 teams and age is one of the comparisons.........i clicked on all the games listed,no claculator needed, someone else did all the work:eek:

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Big game tonight. Wish I could watch on NESN or go to the game instead of being stuck here on this bus, but hopefully it will be enough for me to support in spirit. Go Eagles!

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Epic failure tonight.

I'm embarassed by the joke of a 3rd period this team played tonight. Absolutely brutal.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

It's amazing how in the first two periods BC couldn't do anything wrong. Then all of a sudden they couldn't do anything right. So frustrating.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

No big deal. We have home ice and a chance for the HE Tournament Trophy.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

The big deal is this team needs to play 60 minutes against a quality team.

The RS trophy means little in the grand scheme of things but they need to stop turtling up in the 3rd with a lead. Prevent D prevents you from winning.

That Craig Janney should have his microphone pulled for life. Talking about how it's a total breakdown on the BC bench. You ******** moron, York knew what the situation was and had a plan if that situation came up.

They've played this trick in reverse, too, by sleeping through the first two periods of other games before 'waking up' in the 3rd. This was the mirror image of that. But the starkness of the difference you noted (well, we ALL did) was pronounced.

Craig Janney is the NESN announcer I am surprised you arent aware of that by now. I give him credit for getting out their with a strong opinion against York's decision whether you agree with the strategy or not.

I think the "unaware" part that was being bantered was that they had already clinched no worse then 2nd so why not go for #1. Its a legit discussion, and I dont a "L" versus a "T" would have much of an effect in their PWR. I could see both sides, you certainly dont want to give UNH an open-net W in a game you lead 3-0, either.

Sorry edited, in such a rage between having to text ppl the bad news etc.

I think it is a legit argument to have but to say that York doesn't know what's going on is stupid. York clearly had his mind made up before the game, "if this happens I will/won't pull Milner".

I think it was the right move (said it going in) but especially getting 0 points after being up 3-0 would be tough to take.

funny, but when i heard CJ say that i thought the same thing... "there ain't no way Jerry doesn't know what's going on here":p

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

I don't know why they were making a big deal about the outcome of the Maine game. It had no effect on us. Even if Maine swept and we got swept, we would be tied with Maine for 2nd place, but we'd win the head-to-head tiebreaker over Maine, giving us the 2nd seed anyway. So York didn't need to know the score of the Maine game to make that decision. The announcers' logic was a bit flawed for saying that. I can see both sides of it, and if Jerry didn't want to pull the goalie, then so be it. Looks like he's playing for national postseason seeding.
The team looked tired, slow, and conservative in the 3rd period. I knew once UNH scored their first goal that they were going to tie the game. Very frustrating to watch. As others have said on here, they need to learn to play complete games against quality opponents. No more 1 or 2 period efforts.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Well looks like we know who our postseason goalie will be.

Muse to the title.
You may be right, but I wouldn't etch that in stone.
Didn't see where tonight's tie had anything to do with goaltending. Those were 3 good goals... no softies.
Personally, I feel quite comfortable with either guy in net. My guess is we see Muse Sat. nite though.

Funny how a different view of the game make you see things.

I thought the big difference in the second was UNH stopped trying to go to the hard areas of the ice, keeping everything outside and allowing BC to dominate. In the 3rd UNH went back to the hard areas on the ice that they were going to in the 1st. I don't think the BC D changed, they played very well all night.

In general I thought the game was fairly even. Neither team played a good three periods. 1st was a draw in play, 2nd UNH stopped going to the hard areas making it easy for BC to win the period, 3rd UNH went to the hard areas, finally got a goal and BC got a little back on there heals stopped taking the body allowing UNH to win the period.

I don't care when the scoring was done I think each team gave away one period because they weren't willing to be physical.

Will tomorrow be another tie?

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Congrats to the Cats. Like I said to CBG and unhhockey29, this UNH team is a grittier team than we're used to seeing (despite not having as much talent).

That being said, York shortening the forwards to basically 2 lines and pulling his team back in the 3rd period was simply disgusting.

York and his staff lost this game for BC. No blame on the players at all.

This UNH team doesn't give up on any game I have seen them play. They always seem to play hard until the end, even with the one bone head period seemingly every game. It has made watching them very enjoyable. I didn't think these guys would get home ice or to the NCAAs. Didn't stop me chearing and going to games but I had reasonable expectations.

From this point on, if they don't win another title this year, I hope they have learned to be a tough out. I hope it is now program knowledge that they finally figured out last year how to be a tough out.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

I'm a UNH guy, and I think any criticism of Mr. York may be emotionally based right now. I'm watching how these teams move on. Yes, UNH is "gritty," but comeback wins are comeback wins, and, once we're into playoff hockey, teams can't be spotting two or three goal leads and still be expecting some kind of miracle, as UNH did tonight. Meanwhile, Jerry's record in the post-season speaks for itself.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

not a complaint or sour grapes, but how does this team have the power play for a total of ONLY 39 seconds in about 128 minutes of playing time over the past 2 games?..................the power play ..........for 39 seconds............ in 128 minutes...........in two games!!!
