Boston College Hockey, Part II

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Just returned from SAT night's final regular season game vs. UNH. VERY happy with what I saw tonight, overall. With the exception of some poor passing decisions in the final 2-3 min., BC played a very solid game. They really wanted this one, and it showed. They fought hard to win battles for the puck consistently and passed the puck around beautifully - the best I've seen in a while during a close game. Just a really strong effort resulting in some good, sound hockey - on both ends of the ice - with the forwards flinging the puck around efficiently resulting in tons of quality shots, and the defensemen consistently breaking up and shutting down UNH attacks. BTW, why wasn't Shea playing tonight? This is a great way to go into the tournament - beating top-dog UNH after FRI night's demoralizing tie. What's more is that BC won this game by coming back from behind - something they've had a difficult time doing this season. I liked what I saw from all 4 forward lines, too. They all seem to be pretty well in sync with each. other, and more guys are starting to contribute offensively. Jimmy Hayes in particular stepped it up tonight despite not having any points to show for it.

i think also most of unh players were up till 11 am drinking their arses off , not to take anything away from a bc victory .

OMG that is hilarious. What is the excuse when they always lose to BC in the postseason? Is it a two week long bender after celebrating that RS title again?

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

BU is hating the MC matchup I guarantee you. UMA, UML even UVM would be better.

Correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm basing this off memory, but hasn't Merrimack scored at least 4 goals against BU in all 3 meetings this season? And if I'm not mistaken, I even think Merrimack outshot BU in their final meeting at Agganis. That will be one fun series to watch, and I don't think it'll be an easy one for BU, especially because they seem to play up and down based on their level of competition.

Merrimack scored 14 times against BU in three games while BU scored 15 times. BU always seems to have trouble against Merrimack because they always overlook them and see them as not a big threat. They are a threat this year because of how poorly BU has been doing. I still think BU will make it to the semis but it will take three games to do it.

Okay, so Milner's choke yesterday had me thinking Muse won't see the bench again this year.....

Then Muse plays like he did tonight (in the first two periods).

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

?

Muse let in two goals, one on a partial 2-on-1 and the other on a breakaway.

I would start him in game one against UMass.

i agree.......... he didn't cut the angle enough on butlers goal i thought but other than the breakaway, nothing, though not many grade A chances either . to me he just seemed , i dunno, unsure of himself. maybe not being fair to muse but IMO he struggled . rotate 'em fri/sat and hopefully we don't need the third game but if we do, i'd go with milner

My guess is the next time we see Parker Milner it'll be next October.

I don't think there was any way he was going to stop Butlers's goal. It was an absolute laser and it was accurate.

i disagree completely. the goals aside, it seemed to me that he looked pretty steady, didn't give up a lot of rebounds, and didn't show much rust from the layoff.

the only view of the first goal that i got was from the live video feed with no replay, so i wouldn't comment on it; that being said i heard from a few folks that it was a beauty. at one point do you give credit to the shooter? (kid only has the 2nd most goals in the nation) based on the radio call, you would have thought he shot it from the red line. hodge and whatshisname absolutely killed muse on that one.

kid has played pretty darn well since the winter break yet still is fighting for his job it appears with both the fans and the coaches. perception is a funny thing. if it were me, i'd be fair and let him play in the HE playoffs until they lose. (if they do) at that point evaluate. however, i would expect a split next weekend based off how they've done things sofar this season.

geez, i thought he dropped a few shots in front of him and had to scramble to cover 'em up.i agree with butler's shot but from my view, section MM, possibly if he came out another foot or so maybe that angle is cut off but i am nitpicking. also agree with you on muse the past couple of months and i almost feel guilty of criticizing him. he certainly has the cache' and has earned the spot but something tells me jerry likes milner more at this point. would anyone be surprised if they split the first 2 games vs UMass?

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

this is a nice problem to have unlike two years ago when it was muse or bust. Parker has played very well this season but he hasn't really had the same kind of game situations Muse has. BC is a monster at home but on the road is a different story. We don't know how Parker will handle playing in a hostile enviroment.

well, he looked good for two periods friday night and not really sure how much he could be to blame on any of UNH's 3 goals, but, yeah, nice problem to have, trying to figure out which of the goalies to play when both are doing just fine..........pretty unique i would think as well at this stage in the season, miami comes to mind
