Boston College Hockey, Part II

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

this is a nice problem to have unlike two years ago when it was muse or bust. Parker has played very well this season but he hasn't really had the same kind of game situations Muse has. BC is a monster at home but on the road is a different story. We don't know how Parker will handle playing in a hostile enviroment.

You mean like the hostile environment at UMass, where Milner has already started? Kid'll be fine.

Holy smoke...Minnesota (that would be the same 'Minnesota' that isn't even ranked) just pounded Wisconsin, 6-1 today.

Would this almost guarantee BC a Top Seed in one of the four NCAA Regionals?

BC didn't pass Wisconsin as a result. Wisconsin didn't seem very reachable a week ago. I doubt BC can pass them up unless they melt down.

BTW, I've watched some Minnesota games lately and they look pretty good. Should have beaten Wisconsin on Friday night as well but had 1 goal called back and one rip off the crossbar and go straight down onto the back of the goalie's leg.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Gophers are loaded with talent as always but seem to be in a transition type year. Kangas has been subpar in a year when the WCHA seems to be loaded from top to bottom.

I don't know. They don't seem to have the firepower of a few years ago. Their leading goal scorer only has 12.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

The biggest difference I see in the two goaltenders is how much net Milner can cover. Butlers shot may have hit him in the shoulder. When Muse goes down in the butterfly the entire top half of the net is open.

However, when John Muse is on, he's very, very tough to beat, as we have all seen. I like the problem of having 2 very capable tenders. I'm not going to second guess any decision made by the coaching staff. They seem to have a knack of knowing how to win on the big stage. ;) :)

I'm president of the BC Math Society (I should probably keep that close to the vest, but whatever) and I'm trying to figure out what movie we should watch on Pi Day while we eat pie... and I finally learned where your name came from. I laughed out loud when I saw it on the wiki page.

Pep Band, Math Society......you worry about what to watch on Pi Day.......

BS you don't know who Rosy Palm is.......

jcarter, after BC's performance Saturday in which there were huge PWR implications, is UNH still "clearly" the best team in the league?

Well considering they one the regular season title I would say yes. Although I will give BC their props, they had a great season despite the projections and have been strong all season. Certainly, one of the most dynamic offenses and all that relying largely on a freshman class. That is scary for upcoming seasons if these guys continue to improve and mature, which I'm sure they will. York is a great coach and it shows.

Kudos to BC for an outstanding season in HE.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

That is way, way too simplistic.

How so? Are you saying that a league title is given out to a team that isn't the best? They played better hockey more consistently then any other team and amassed more points then any other team....ergo they were the best team over the course of the season. I don't know why it has to be complicated, unless you are a sore loser. Which you shouldn't be, BC is a great team that will be in the NCAA's and make a legit run for the NC. Be happy with what you have, maybe a little dissappointed that you could take another point from UVM ;)

Dear lord, where to start with this. Yes, in 27 league games, UNH finished with one more point than BC. Nobody is taking the league title away from UNH or the fact that UVM finished in eighth place. If you want to play a semantics game and say UNH was better than BC "in Hockey East", so be it.

I was thinking overall:

-Head to Head
-PWR numbers
-Goal differential

BC has been a better hockey team than UNH this season.

Dude what are you on?? You weren't talking overall, you were talking league, that was the whole freaking conversation... I even tried to be decent and give BC the credit they deserved but you were trying to catch me in a "gotcha" and were instead wrong and now are trying to back pedal out of it, instead of just saying thanks for the nice words about BC. What a putz......

Man up and admit you were just trying to be a **********

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

No, you idiot. Best team in the league is different from 'best record in conference play,' or something like that.

I think it's pretty clear that UNH and BC are pretty close to one another (hence the one point separation in the standings), but if one steps back and evaluates talent level, play in non-conference games, head-to-head matchups, and the 'eyeball test' of having seen the two teams play, it's perfectly reasonable to say BC is the best team in the league (as is backed up by the PWR, RPI, the polls, the always-almighty INCH Power Rankings, KRACH, and the vast majority of posters on this board).

I'd put Vermont higher than Merrimack or UMass when ranking the best teams in the league, as well - despite their difference in the standings.

*** are you talking about? You're so intent on playing this semantics game...

The question was/is simple: who is the best team in Hockey East? Don't try telling me what I meant. Unlike you, I didn't mean for that to be solely based on 27 league games. I meant for it to take into account all the factors I mentioned in my last post.

Let me rephrase the ****ing question for you...

OVERALL, which team is/has been better?

unbelievable
