Just a formality. There's nothing that leads me to believe tomorrow will be any different (especially since this UNH team plays better on the road)

Men vs. boys out there, I'm afraid :(

Not true! I'm a student also, and I read all the time, I just don't usually post.

Same here. I usually don't chime in unless I feel like I really need to. Maybe I'll start posting more to keep you guys happy :p

BTW, big win tonight! That had to be the most complete game the team has played all season. Too bad about Kreider. Judging by everyone's reactions, I'm guessing they won't let him play with a broken jaw, eh? I've seen basketball players do it but hockey is a whole different animal in terms of hitting and physicality.

I'll be making my first trip to Lake Whitt tomorrow for what the locals will be calling the "national championship"! :p :D Can't wait!

For those not going to UNH on Saturday, get your asses to Walter Brown Arena at 3 pm to cheer on the BC women in their Hockey East Semi-Final against Providence. Plenty of time for you to then get home and watch MIH. (BU/NU faceoff in the first semi at noon). Tickets are only $5! (only $3 for students).

Really? That surprises me a bit. They do well going west on road trips and to the FF and did well in their two western regionals (which were tough as HECK!) but still, they've done so well locally in the regionals as well.

Ya, I know they certainly don't mind going out west early in the season--and we saw in '99 and '00 they don't care if they have to go west for the NCAA regionals, but I've never heard/seen a York quote about wanting to be sent west in the NCAAs.

My thoughts on the Kreider injury:

How long did Alber miss with his broken jaw? I think it's realistic that Kreider could be available should BC advance to the FF.

Now, obviously losing Kreider's speed and his chemistry with Mullane and J. Hayes is big, but if something like this was gonna happen, glad it happened now rather than in the middle of an NCAA Tourney game.

I think BC has enough team speed to survive this. The key is finding who plays with Mullane and J. Hayes. I don't think Kevin Hayes is the answer right now and would love to see Carey on that line. I think he would bring great cycling ability just like Kreider. I would go:

Carey-Mullane-J. Hayes
Almeida-Arnold-S. Whitney
Dyroff/MacLeod-K. Hayes-Brown

I'm looking real big picture here, not about tomorrow night, not about the HE tournament. With an injury like this to Kreider, it really makes you open your eyes. The next couple weeks will allow York to find out what his best mix is without Kreider. Come NCAA Tourney time, can BC win two games without Kreider to get to the FF? I think everyone on here would say they can. BTW, BC was able to win in 2008 without Brock Bradford.

How do I not know you guys??

Haha you know me Grant. My signature should give it away, but I will facebook chat you next time I see you to let you know...

I'm excited for the game at UNH tomorrow! I've heard good things and there should be a lot of excitement. Anything I should be sure to do or see while I'm there?

I'm not sure how this two-game set affects the NCAA Regional in Manchester, since there's plenty of hockey left to play between now and then (HE Playoffs). But it seems to me that BC could in fact be sent out west if UNH is seeded fourth in Manchester (can't have BC v. UNH because it represents an intra-conference matchup). Alternatively, is there any chance that UNH might miss the NCAAs altogether? I know they are within four or five of the cellar.

If Kreider's jaw is broken, he's done for the season. Tough break.

Priceless is the expert on the stuff, but I think it would take a lot for UNH to be knocked out completely. After last night, I'm scared to see UNH play anyone worthy of a NCAA tournament bid, especially in the top few spots :(

This is exactly why you go out and get more depth and not bring in coaches nephews etc.

There was probably 50 other high end kids who would have killed to have had a chance to be on team.

It is absurd wht they do with their roster depth wise. Always one injury away from moving F to D etc. I know it works but if you are going to be that thin, fine, but at least make it with legit blue chippers. Not relatives who did not have any other schools in the hunt

Your argument holds no water.
BC has 3 solid lines. Carey, Almieda or K. Hayes will be plugged into 2nd line, leaving 2 of these guys with S. Whitney on 3rd line.
4th line of T. Atkinson/Brown/Dyroff. This line does not hurt the team and holds their own against any opponents 4th line (and a lot of 3rd lines for that matter).

Now we are 1 injury away from from what you say, not yesterday. Pretty much every other team out there is in the same boat.

Fill your entire roster with legit blue chippers? LOL... name the team that has.

Wisconsin for example. Most teams carry more than 13/14 F's. Some carry 5+ lines always, some even .

Every other BC player is pretty much a blue chipper, they couldnt find one or 2 more who would fight to play?
UNH has NHL draft picks who have not played a single shift this year. That is their depth.

wisconsin (and uhn) are state schools with a slightly small price tag for kids who could start and play regular shifts on any other team in the country, rather than add depth to bc too.
(i know you know that there are only 18 total scholarships available per team, right? :D)

There you have it folks.
UNH vs Wisconsin in St. Paul for your 2011 National Championship.

P.S. BC did have one. Your boy wasn't willing to fight for ice and defected at the last minute. Another commit backed out when Kreider came a year early. You better tell Jerry which ones out there are willing to fight and which ones will bail.

I'll trust the judgement of a guy who will be the winningest college hockey coach ever over someone who hangs out in the stalls of the local rinks, but thanks for the input.

We could've really used his .1 points per game!
