Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

Really glad to see the women are still wearing the fantastic 2001-2011 BC jerseys instead of the new Under Armour garbage the men are wearing.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

I didn't see anything from the referees in the women's series that could be complained about really from either side.. penalties were called that should have been as far as what I saw.

B.C.'s winning goal scorer Alex Carpenter.. would have had a 'gwg' picture but someone skated through the camera view, but I did get a shot of her earlier.

Reffing was a lot better on Sunday- Wong was consistent, Irwin needed to move puck but Freshmen on both sides looked pretty good- tough break on Lacquette after her booming shot on pp earlier. Hickel and Carpenter looked good up front. It was a great wknd for hockey!

Habs are going to win the CUP this year! Take it to the bank!!!

r.. would have had a 'gwg' picture but someone skated through the camera view..

Doh, I hate when that happens. One of the drawbacks of shooting at ice level.

But has he gotten divorced yet for going on USCHO boards on his wedding night?

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

Solid weekend for BC versus UNH. Always a struggle visiting UNH and playing on the larger ice. I got the chance to be at both games and UNH really does utilize its home larger ice to its advantage. They have set plays that really open things up and put the opponent back on their heals. Game could have gone either way on Friday and although I thought BC had a few better scoring opportunities, the game ending in a tie seemed about right.
Saturday's game was much more like the old BC. Constant forechecking and a smothering of UNH in their own zone. In addition, UNH had trouble counting and staying at 5 as they took two too many players on the ice penalties. I believe that both cost them also. In the end, the game was as unbalanced as the score and shots on goal (36 - 13). BC broke out of their scoring doldrums and the hope is that they will continue to play the pressure game that leads to good opportunities. Congrats to Goalie Boyles on the shut-out and an extremely good weekend.

Caught the game on BC Free Web Feed. Excellent feed, excellent quality and did I say FREE. Not only has the team come a long way over the past few years on the ice, but their media coverage has also made significant strides. Helpful for us non Boston locals.

Once again, very balanced scoring across the board (with a few yet to really contribute). The team is pretty deep and a second shut-out in a row for Goalie Boyles. Seemed like BC's speed simply smothered Quinny and made it difficult for the Bobcats to mount much offense.

Dartmouth on Sunday will most likely be more of a test given their #10 rating, but it's also the Big Green's first non-scrimmage game, so they may be a little rusty (I hope:)).

BC giving it to Quinnipiac.... yikes, The Q fall to 1-5!

One element of the coverage that continues to be unreliable is CBS Gametracker. Routinely Gametracker will show a BC home game as being halfway through the first period when the game is two hours old. One sees the same thing for games at Ohio State or Wisconsin. Is this because the software is lousy, or is there some installation setting that needs tweaking? I don't know, but I sure wish that site administrators would look into the problem, because its continued recurrence, both directly and on the national scoreboard, makes the entire production look rather apathetic.

That's what I think -- but then I thought that rust would play a factor in Princeton hosting Northeastern, so what do I know.

Radio coverage of today's last second goal from WZBC 90.3 FM

The Eagles keep rolling!

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

your creativity never ceases to amaze me. think i heard the same announcer at the umd game earlier in the season.

you have to really appreciate the contribution being made by the fab frosh (meaning all of them) in propelling bc even further. still a few injuries of upper classmen and upon their return to health, expecting event bigger things. until then, thank goodness for the fab frosh.

at 4-1-1, the team is slightly ahead of where i thought they would be. would be interesting to hear which teams are either ahead of plan or behind plan thus far.

Post of the year is the post of the year.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

another solid hockey east road victory for bc on friday evening versus a very stubborn providence college team. once again solid defense and goaltending. not sure how the shots were 38 - 31 in favor of pc as i did not think there were even 30 shots in the game combined. regardless some good saves by both goaltenders. of note for bc is the scoring from both the 1st and 2nd lines in the game. hoping this balance can continue into future games.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

not totally sure what happened to the eagles on sunday in their 5 - 2 loss to maine. bc dominated in shots, but from what i could tell, maine seemed to have more quality opportunties and they definately capitalized on these shots. quite a performance by maine traveling all the way to bc for a single game and coming away with a solid victory. looks like maine and northeastern have stepped up in class thus far while providence and connecticut have not yet found their stride. others are about where i would have thought. should continue to make for an interesting season.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

I will not be satisfied with the upcoming games against bu unless we absolutely embarrass them. There is only one women's hockey team on Comm Ave worth mentioning in the same breath as Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Cornell. The fact that bu is ranked so highly is, to be blunt, a ****ing joke, and it will be a pleasure... an absolute pleasure... to watch my lady Eagles wipe the floor with those overrated rat dogs and show the rest of the college hockey world that the bu women, much like the men, do not belong within a sniff of the top of the rankings.

It starts tomorrow. Wish I could be there or watch online, but it is my 5 year anniversary so I'll probably be out. Hopefully Paul, the rink manager at Kelli Rink, will be able to clean up the carnage left by the BC women before the men's game Friday night.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

Tony just wanted to remind you that your beloved Eagles lost to Maine this past weekend. I se BU as likely to beat them as well but in close games that could go either way. I think you are being a little bold trying to equate BC with Minny and Wisco, this does not appear to be the year that the West gives up the NCAA Championship Trophy.
