Sir, I will not let you drag these players' names through the mud. I’m wondering if your desire to mercilessly slander these BC athletes is an attempt to make up for your own shortcomings.

I presume Duluth is expected to be a top team again this year, no? This will be a challenging start for the Eagles, but over on the men's side, Jerry York always likes to start the year with difficult road games for purposes of team building.

Who is going to be the starting goalie?

They graduated some key talent, so early in the year, BC and UMD should be similar in that both are trying to figure out how to replace some very important people. They also have a well-regarded freshman class. An excellent series on paper that should give us some clues to the season.

I suspect it will be a good series and an opportunity for UMD to work out their lines/ chemistry/ etc. Jenny Harss will most likely be the starting goalie. She's the National Champion goalie from two years ago when Kim Martin was pulling Olympic duties. She split time between the pipes with Kim (who graduated) last season.

I agree it will show a lot about both teams, I am expecting UMD to be a little down this year. That said I think BC will be done a bit more, in my opinion they lost the most to graduation of any team in the country. The loss of Stack will really hurt this team, she scored about 35% of their goals and I would love to see how many game winners she had. By comparison Dugan represented on 18% of UW's goals last year. Then you have Schaus who only gave up 1.45 goals per game. So the combination meant you needed .50 goals per game from anyone else on average to win (I know it doesn't work that way) and Stack assisted on .61 goals per game. So I think BC is really going to have a tough road this year trying to live up to last year's standards.

I think UMD will win both games comfortably.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

From what i hear, there will be a BC contingent attending both games this weekend in Duluth. Several girls on the team are from the midwest, so this is one of the few opportunities for their friends and family's to see them in action.

I know it's a stretch, but any BC'ers coming out for the series?

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

Were I still in my college years, I'd probably have considered it. Given that I'm getting married on Saturday, though... Can't do it. haha

And here I thought you were a real fan!

Seriously, best of luck to you and your new wife! And have no regrets about not being able to spend your honeymoon in Duluth. ;)

Awesome! I hope they enjoy the new arena and we're happy to have help filling seats!

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

For those of us not making the trip to Duluth, is there a service to watch the game via the web? Thanks.

AmericaOne either bought or merged with B2LiveTV and it looks like UMD is on their list of teams covered during home games. I say "looks like" (I just checked their site and it's there) because my experience with this service, (meaning B2), has been that no matter who the home team is, you never know what to expect, service-wise...ie:the game may start on time or it may not...if it starts at all. Reception at times is not good but for the most part it's been decent in my experience. The biggest problem has been in their remembering to turn the juice on just before game time. But they are one of the few "games" in town which I suspect is the only reason that they haven't been forced into bankruptcy, yet.

The only redeeming feature that they offer in comparison to their competitors' services that I've used is that seven bucks gets you in the door. With other services, like the one used by UM for example, you have to buy a monthly pass even if you only want to watch one game and the cost is a bit more.

Anyway...here you go...

On second thought...use this link...(I find their site very confusing and thought that you might have difficulty finding where this single game choice is...so I just went back in to double check and now it's $8.00; it was $7.00 when I checked 2 days ago...what did I tell you?) I guess that's inflation.

Whether the service actually works or not, the BC Eagle community thanks you for your efforts in identifying the service and setting appropriate expecations. It's greatly appreciated.

Blackbeard - the UMD America One broadcast is outstanding. Perfect picture along with good announcers and replays. Looks like a very professional broadcast associated with a very professional new rink. Thanks again.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

We lost 7-2. Just a terribly officiated game and Duluth brought out the cheap stuff as usual. What else is new?

Total garbage. BC carried most of the play IMO and just couldn't get any puck luck. On to tomorrow, maybe the better team will win this time?

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

Reffing wasn't the greatest but Harss played extremely well early in the game. Played well until the Dogs settled in and pretty much controlled the game. It was the Wong show!

We'll see what tomorrow brings!

Habs are going to win the CUP this year- That's the only certainty we know!!

I didn't watch the game, so maybe you could fill me in on the officiating. The box score says the Bulldogs were called for six penalties and BC for four. Sounds pretty even to me with BU having the advantage. What wasn't even was the power play. The Bulldogs converted on two of three chances and BU only went one for five. Except for the embellishment call on Caitlin Walsh in the second period, I didn't see any calls for roughing or any of that. What was the "cheap stuff?" (And I'm not being a smarta**...I really didn't see the game, so I'm curious.)
