Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

The posted BC roster has 27 players listed. This seems like an extraordinary large number, but would defer to others who have seen other teams function/not-function with this quantity of players. On the surface, would seem to bring high competition for every minute of ice time. On the other hand, it has got to be a problem during practices; particularly since the team has so many practices off campus.
Also noticed as per our discussion in the Spring, that Alison Slozak is now listed as a Forward. This should free up some of the log jam that exists on defense with some very solid players defending the blue line.

Wow, kinda like the good ole days of the Original 12.

McGill (the scum of Canada) .

Was that really needed ?. McGill is tops in the CIS when it comes to Women's hockey, and they also set the standard in Academics north of the border, routinely ranked in the Top 20 in the World university rankings.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

Grant, I have no connection to McGill whatsoever, but I found your calling them "the scum of Canada" way out of line, and offensive, really. I have no idea what led you to characterize the school in this way, as you've done nothing to explain yourself. But by any objective standard, it's just patently false. And if another poster here opined that Boston College is "the scum of the United States" I would find it equally objectionable.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

Do you disagree?

McGill is one of the best schools in the world. Your categorization of them as'scum" is typical of your myopic view of academia and hockey. As a college graduate you should be a bit more circumspect with your adjectives. Even money you wouldn't have gained admission to McGill U

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

All good points, so let's get back to the thread here. BC played well in their early season tune-up. Dominated in shots and carried the play. Upper class women, showed well and some of the freshman got their feet wet in their first collegiate action. Lone McGill goal was on the power play so the BC defense and goaltending were up to the task. Also recognize that this was the first game for BC (maybe a little rusty) and third game of the week for McGill (maybe a little tired), so you need to take the game for what it was worth; really nothing.

BC opening away at Minnesota Duluth is going to be a much, much tougher series of games. Without another tune-up between now and the weekend of Oct 8th, BC needs to come out firing on all cylinders to get off to a quick start against what fans in the WCHA often think is the best team in their division. Will be a great early season test and surely a barometer for the season.

If I'm not allowed to feel hatred for our long time and bitter rivals at McGill, sports have lost all meaning.

Why don't you tell me to stop calling BU my safety school while you're at it.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

McGill's rating is probably based on its Mountie Training Program.

With all due respect, let it go, before CHG and Fiver get wind of this. I'm a fan of McGill and have several connections there.

The Mounties will be able to find you. You might be seeing red forever after that. :D

Huh ?. McGill and BC bitter rivals?. Did I miss something ?.

So per your comment can I make the assumption that your professed"hate" for your rivals somehow gives you joy or on a deeper level makes up for some personal shortcoming?

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012

Why is it that when somebody posts something hockey related around here, all one hears is crickets, but everybody shows up when they think an opportunity to argue has been presented? As a joke, people will sometimes refer to their "hated" rival when playing a team a) that they never play and b) about which they know nothing. Lighten up, or it's going to really be a long season.
