BC vs. Denver

Re: BC vs. Denver

We always hear about BC's small, quick forwards. If you look at the rosters DU matches up pretty well with our own small quick forwards.

We shall see...

I'm not going to disagree with Swami's likelihood of a sweep prognostication, but a Sweep would be a major accomplishment for BC. For a defending national champion to come off just one game's preparation, after a summer of being lauded by the fans, media and the school defies logic. To come into Magness at 4,000 ft. above sea level and humble our Pioneers on back to back nights would be an amazing feat.

Good luck to both teams. Hope DU comes out firing on all cylinders tonight.

No question about it and I certainly don't expect the full four points if you will, but I believe the last time BC was at Denver for a two game set against the Pioneers...BC sweep. May have been the first season at Magness?

Re: BC vs. Denver

Congrats to the Eagles. BC took us Pios out to the woodshed tonight, as the Pioneers fed them as many fresh-baked turnovers as they could bury.

BC is a smart, quick and experienced team and they showed it tonight. DU did not belong on the same ice with BC- Gwoz called DU's performance "a comedy of errors" and while that wasn't far from the truth, DU had no answer for BC's quickness and strength on the puck, either. It was a *****-slapping.

Hopefully, DU will be better tomorrow, but I am not counting on it. This BC team is very, very good.

Silver lining - Luke "The Goal Czar" Salazar potted 2 goals on 2 shots with the second being a goal scorer's goal. If he is out of his funk, that will help DU's scoring depth this season.

More like a silver thread than a silver lining. The other nice thing for DU was a great student turnout, but DU gave them very little to cheer about.

Seriously, DU will not see a faster team this year. These BC guys are so good in transition....

A win or a tie tomorrow could get them rowdy. I am sure Gwoz is already looking at the video. Looks like he'll make some subtle adjustments and Sam will get his chance in goal tomorrow night. Can't blame this one on Adam. Those **** turnovers

Re: BC vs. Denver

I don't think DU has the horses to beat BC right now. Donovan and Nutini were a -7 between them. Maiani was a -3. Adam didn't play poorly - BC's goals were mostly good shots from Grade A areas, coming in waves - clinical precision in that second period. DU's goals were scored when BC had already taken its foot off the gas. Gwoz might think DU can play better and perhaps they can, but I just don't see see the Pios hanging with BC with that speed, skill and experience.

Re: BC vs. Denver

Gabe Gauthier was the color man with Jay tonight. Besides the turnovers, he said DU had no one on front of the net all night screening Muse. He said unless you get traffic in front of a good goalie like him, you aren't going to score many goals. DU did hit iron twice tonight. Gabe said also that it is going to be up to the seniors to lead the team to a higher level of play.

Re: BC vs. Denver

Can DU buy their way out of next season's BC game like college football teams? :-)

no way,;) we've been waiting to have a big name OOC team at home (none this year) for 2 years, plus next year is when you'll WANT to come after all the defections we will have after this year:(. expect a big rebound from DU tonight

You won't need to. Gibbons, Whitney & Muse graduate, and it's expected a few others (Atkinson, Hayes, Kreider?) to perhaps be early departures.
That's a lot of goal scoring right there. At the very least, the first line will be broken up by graduation.

Re: BC vs. Denver

Gwoz keeps talking about DU making turnovers. It was clear that BC was forcing turnovers with their speed the entire game.

That may be true, but there's nothing Gwoz can do to make changes in BC's squad. He can only make changes/adjustments on how his team plays, which in turn can change the way the opposition plays.
If he feels it was BC's speed that did them in, no doubt we'll see DU try to neutralize that speed tonight. He's a darn good coach, and good coaches make adjustments to give their team their best opportunity to win.

Re: BC vs. Denver

Obviously the offense is BC's biggest strength, but it's nice to see Muse off to a good start. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets the call again tonight.

Thought Samuelsson was terrific last night.

Having seen BC quite a bit last year (which was basically the same team they are this year), I was constantly amazed at their speed in transition. Every time they have the slightest opening, it seems like they have a 2 on 1 going the other way, and last night was no exception. They seem to create scoring chances out of nothing. As people say, no matter the sport, speed is a huge advantage, and BC is as fast a team as I can recall seeing.

On a side note, watching the game last night made me feel good about Northeastern's effort against BC last Saturday.
