BC vs. Denver

Re: BC vs. Denver

Only huge, and I repeat, huge concern is the fact that they only have 12 Fs and 7 D.

BC has 2 extras at forward and stand at 14 on the roster. Tommy Atkinson has played in and looked ok at forward when he has been called upon. Dryoff... who knows. Another option at forward is of course the infamous Patch Alber, who has seen time at forward (ahead of T. Atkinson) and looked decent, of course that would mean the D is healthy and Macleod gets back there if the staff thinks he is ready. BC can handle a good amount of scenarios unless several guys get hurt for a long period of time. J. Whitney has played some defense too, although I wasn't a big fan of the decision or his play at the position during the 08-09 debacle. Having some guys that are flexible helps. Marty Hughes was a great example of a flexible player that BC used in different positions and he was good at both and proved to be quite valuable to BC.

Re: BC vs. Denver

agreed. Shoukld be ok but if any injury bug kicked in, crazy stuff etc, they have the least depth of any major program in the country.

It is also nice of Cronin to say that after such a strong showing by NU vs them. that must mean NU will win 37 or 38 in his eyes.

Re: BC vs. Denver

Oh and that Cronin quote crazy, BTW. Maybe a team stacked like this that operates differently. But this BC program is not designed to run wire to wire. York doesn't work like that. In fact they usually are disappointing before February and let the other teams get full of themselves and take BC lightly and I don't have any reason to think they won't do the same this year. The best line combos are saved for a late season surge to energize the team and maximize the talent when it is needed.

Re: BC vs. Denver

Last year's BC/DU game was awesome. If I remember correctly, Kreider missed that game due to the Worlds, right? I expect BC to play well against a great opponent on the road. As always, I root for a sweep, but this will be a great test for the Eagles.

well he said it before the game (back at media day i think).. plus he is insane. so take it with a grain of salt.

Anything said before a game is posturing, and it seemed to work...

He might be insane but in a good way.

Re: BC vs. Denver

Off the subject questions: Will Vinny Saponari play for BC next year? Is he enrolled at BC now? Will Jerry York really take on a BU problem child?

From what I've read Vinny says he will play, but no comment from BC.

Yes, Saponari is coming to BC next year. As I understand it, he hasn't enrolled yet. York must have had a pretty strong indication that the kid is going to behave himself. If not, he'll be gone.

No.
Yes.
I don't think they can comment on Vinny until he's registered to take classes there.

Kreider was out the BC lineup for the World Juniors as was Matt Donovan for Denver. Both won gold with Team USA.

To play at BC he will do what they call a 4/2/4 He will have to register witha 2 year college, have the BU credits(the ones they will accept) transferred over. Here is where it will get tricky as most will not take a C or below. If so, clearinghouse might look at it and not allow. The kids who have done it most recently were smart kids and very good students. I.e. the kid from Northeastern who left and went to BCHL and now is at Dartmouth. Joe Lavin who left PC and now is at Notre Dame.
He will have to graduate this year from a 2 year college and than transfer his credits to BC as a new 4 year student. I would bet that they are going to do it with the on line school favored out of Texas. NCAA raises their eyebrows with the on line stuff but it can and will pass muster. The big issue with on line classes is who actually takes them. A few have been red flagged when NCAA requested IP addresses and it came back to the players house, in other words mom or dad, vs where the kid was living while playing juniors. It is nota slam dunk and is tougher to do than many might think. If kid is not 100% focussed and driven, it will be atough road to hoe

Northeastern coach Greg Cronin thinks BC, which has just 34 regular-season games, could become the first team since Maine in 1993 to win 40 games.

nice compliments but of course it's preposterous ............that's a record that i'm afraid most if not all of us will never see broken. the sport's landscape is different now. even that loaded BU team lost 6 games.........just my opinion

Agreed. If that BU team didn't do it, nobody will these days. Besides, BC teams tend to have slumps during the season.

Re: BC vs. Denver

I have a feeling this series will be a split. One blowout victory for BC and then a close win by DU. The only way I see a Denver Sweep would be if Denver wins a close hard fought game Friday, and BC gets worn down by the altitude by the third on saturday.

also i foresee Ryder obliterating a small BC forward or two

Re: BC vs. Denver

Any BC Eagle posters coming out to Denver for the series?

wish i could for this one. actually just moved back to boston from vail, but would have missed the series for a wedding anyway.

anyone know how difficult it will be getting fox rocky mountain in the boston area? (or any good bars to suggest for watching?)
