All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

I did see the trap coming, and UAA sure knew how to spring it.

This DU team does not match up well with UAA. The Seawolves are a big, physical team and when they trap on a small rink, it's very hard for a finesse transition team, which DU basically is (outside of John Ryder) to get their game going.

The Pioneers are going to need a more focused effort to get deep on UAA and get some dirty goals.

On the plus side, Ryder was huge last night. What happened to Nutini?, did Philips replace him?

Nutini got hurt against BC last week, left the game and then returned to finish the game. DU is describing it as an upper body injury.

Even though he stuck his hand down his pants when it happened?

Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

With Donovan at home and Nutini injured, DU doesn't have a lot of choices for d men. Wouldn't be surprised to see the pairings change tonight.

Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

Looks like the Saturday slump is finally broken--two big W's in a row. Alleluia! Good job getting the three hard fought points over AA. Now we rest up for the Badgers. It will be good to have Chris and Matt back. We really missed their commanding physical play this weekend.

If anybody has the video of the GWG tonight please post it.

I hope DU learned about mental prep this weekend. Next time we see them in Colorado they go against another "easy" opponent in the Lakers that will be gunning for them and then again the next night down at the academy. Just 12 more conference games to go. We need to stay focused and healthy. Great leadership the last two Saturdays by the seniors R and R. I'm glad to see Gwoz gave Cody the night off as I thought he played like crap Friday night. It was not a good weekend for Wierdcrotch and Martin. I'm wondering if Patrick's knee is getting worse. He got burned at least three times tonight--once leading to a Seawolves goal and the other time the cross bar.

Hey 78 now that Murrary is a distant scary mem and Chev is firing on all cylinders let's update the thread title. Rumor on the flight deck between periods tonight was that 14 was out sick this weekend. Get better soon big guy!

AND....Hello people. Can I get an Amen on the news out of Duluth this weekend? The evil 57 empire goes down and comes up with a goose egg in the points column this weekend. What happened to the freshmen boy wonder between the pipes? Sounds like he spread his legs! :-)

Tonight's boxscore still not posted nearly two hours after the game, which leads me too believe that we might see some suspensions forthcoming. Not what DU needs heading to Wisconsin for its next game.

This could be a costly night for the Pios.

Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

I think DU handled itself very well on the ice. I suspect the delay is centered on making sure they suspend the players from AA that went on to the ice from the bench. No doubt the refs missed it in the moment.

Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

Ryder and Wrenn got DQs along with two UAA players.

Very costly defensive suspensions for the Pios heading to Wisconsin.

Can't edit thread titles but this thread will be coming to a close soon a it is nearing the 1,000 post limit. We will have a new one soon.

Replacements for the suspended players will be Donovan and Nutini. On the post-game last night Gwoz made it sound like Nutini will be ready for the Badger's series.

Not a surprise that the WCHA would mess this up. Makes no sense at all the way they made the penalties balance. In the end just like with all adversity DU will have to adjust, other players will have to step up. Cookie played great last night so you give him another start in Madison if you need him. Loosing Wren is not as a big a deal as losing Ryder. I assume it's one game--so they'd be back Saturday. Is that right? Go Robert Morris!

Yes they will be available to be back Saturday but you are limited to a travelling party of 22 (20 players and 2 goalies). Will Gwoz take 8 d-men on the road? Maybe but I doubt it. I see him taking Ryder and a spare forward as the extras.

UAA did end up with 2 extra minors, a 5 minute major (which DU did not) and an extra DQ. So, it wasn't completely balanced...

I think the penalties were handed out fairly, based on what happened. I don't see how the WCHA "messed it up".

The major violation was the two-three players from AA leaving the bench. That should be an automatic DQ for each of them. I assume that's what the second DQ for Crowell was for. DU's guys were defending themselves against frustrated cry babies--shouldn't have resulted in DQ's. Ref's and AA's coach should of seen it coming. Instead they stood by and let it unfold. I give George a lot of credit for taking the lead. It would have been a brawl like USCHO and CHN are calling it on their homepages if he hadn't taken the lead.

Here's another question for you. How does Clark come away with only 4 minutes? He was the first one escorted off the ice.

du78, I beleve you to be the official thread starter. So I have two suggestions for a new thread title.

The Rakh and Ruegs (Rock and Roogs) Revue or something honoring these 2 seniors who have been such an intergral part of Pioneer hockey for 4 years.

OR

My first choice (unless it might hex us): From Boonetown to Motown

Nah, I am not the official thread starter. Actually, CO 14ers started the original All Things DU thread for a place where we could talk about the team, etc. that had been invading the weekly game threads. Go ahead and start the next one when the time comes. I like your first one the best. The last title just came to me as the old one was nearing its end.

Here's the deal the last thread I started in Score Updates was a loss--beaten badly loss--so I don't want to carry that jinx forward for the 2nd half of the season. :o

CO 14ers or any other thread starter who's ready to step up and bear the weight of the 2nd half of the season on their shoulders, I offer suggestions.
But I don't think, no I know, I can't take the pressure. :o

My suggestion:The Rakh and Ruegs (Rock and Roogs) Revue

(Maybe we should save From Boonetown to Motown for the Frozen Four)
