Are there any "official" alumni road trips planned this year? And I don't mean just down to Colorado Springs ;) I went on the UM trip a couple years ago and we all had a blast. If so - please be sure to post the info here. Those official trips are great, because you get good seats as a group; versus buying game tix on your own, sometimes paying out the *****... and sitting who knows where.... still, there's usually a DU Alum somewhere, wherever DU plays.... that's been my experience anyway :)

OK DU fans, we have a couple of tough opponents this weekend and we posters need to fire up!!! What's up with Lowell?, are they any good?, how about Air Force? We need some chatter!!! DG, are you out there, Co14ers?, Dubbie?, Pablo?, we need to help Viz and Du78 keep this thread alive!!!

DU facing two teams that played 3 ties last weekend. AF tied both Alaska & UAA 3-3 in their Kendall Classic games in Alaska. Umass-Lowell tied Vermont 1-1 on Friday night. CC also facing these two teams this coming weekend and they are coming off two 5-4 wins over Clarkson in the Springs.

DU Hockey media day is Tuesday

The Undefeated But Winless Birds Are Coming!

#7 DU opens the regular season against #6 UMass-Lowell. These birds may see a drop after a tie against lightly regarded Vermont. I doubt the Pios will see Rowdy the RiverHawk mascot this weekend, but they will see some rowdy UMass-Lowell fans who are making a road trip/pilgrimage to the Falling Rock. The team will not enjoy the same pre game libations as the fans.

DU faces in-state rival Air Force on Saturday. The Falcons were chilled by UAA and the formerly known as UAF. Chilled, but not "iced" in the Kendall Hockey Classic. Kissed sister twice over the weekend.
Jason Torf is a good goalie. Falcons should not be allowed to fly free at Magness. AFA plays hard and does not slow down in the 3rd period. DU may be at a conditioning disadvantage on their first 2 game weekend.

What do we know about the birds from the east?
  • Pre season polls ranked 2nd to BC in Hockey East.
  • The roster includes players from Georgia, Florida, Arizona, Russia, Sweden,and even 1 from Colorado. A number from Canada, but surprisingly not many from New England.
  • 1970+ miles from Lowell to Denver

What do we know about the birds from the west?
  • Pre season polls ranked 1st in Atlantic Hockey
  • The roster does not include any Russians, Swedes or Canadians.:rolleyes:
  • 60 miles or less from AFA to Magness

Lowell has 8 players from New England on the roster, including 3 starters and the team captain. Top notch research.

The research is actually pretty impressive considering she's a DU fan. They are mostly useless. Unless there is information about players from other teams getting in trouble they have very little insight. :D

Who will be at the game on saturday? I will be there and I plan on getting really Rowdy!!! I have heard that they were wanting to install a automatic tunnel tarp to keep me safe after last years shennanigans by Stewart Little of the Wisconsin Badgers.:eek: I wasn't afraid of S.Little I can tell you that much.

I have no idea about Lowell. I don't even know if WE will be any good! Sounds like the exhibition game was a bit ho hum. I'm just hoping to be maybe 6-4 in our first ten games, until Gwoz can figure out how this team will score its goals. Having the wealth of goaltending talent that we do should buy him some time to figure that out.

Looking forward to getting this campaign started. I hope DU doesn't look as sleepy at Magness as Obama did during the debate!
