Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

A couple of thoughts:

I experienced Pio vision for the first time. Good picture, but lousy audio. Is this typical?
I thought the younger Shore looked good as did Zajac and Allen.
I could have used a little more help from the announcers about the newcomers.
What about you guys?, who impressed you? (freshmen I mean)

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

The official box score showed 2251. I'm supprised that many folks showed up. I still think it should have been part of the season ticket package.

And the pep band was there, too. Seemed like lots of students. Tough sell for them: off campus, exhibition, on a Saturday. Plenty of time to catch up afterwards, I guess.

Be prepared for a dark picture at Magness. and the audio is usually pretty good (Including and especially the off air comments) until Stickney or Rycroft kicks the plug out of the socket. The feed was usually about a minute or 2 behind the live updates on the DU site. Jay Stickney can drive you nuts with cliches, but he does keep track of the game. Mark Rycroft is a good analyst and sings a mean version of D-Rah

Keep in mind Mitch Hyder is basically a basketball guy and paid to promote DU Athletics, not just hockey. He gave out many facts, just not the game related ones.

I have high hopes for Shore III.

Mayfield and Didier as a pair would be downright scary

Different subject: UW's highly touted freshman, Nic Kerdiles, suspended by the NCAA for 1 year--violation of amateurism. Hope no DU player has Pulter Sports as the "Family advisor."

I was having trouble keeping track of all the new kids. I kept thinking #17 was Zucker and #9 was Bennett, Rhakshani, Gauthier, etc. (granted there was some wine invoved). It would appear that we have a good Freshmen class. I hope so with all of the scoring we lost.

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

You mean like Colorado College purchasing and donating the Broadmoor Trophy for the WCHA Final 5 winner and then never winning the trophy?

FWIW, the Broadmoor Trophy was purchased and donated as the replacement for the MacNaughton Cup when Tech left for the CCHA. It was only when Tech came back to the WCHA that the Broadmoor was awarded to the postseason tournament champion. Either way, CC has never won it.

Thank you. :-)

If you noticed #9, Gabe Levin, for good things that 's good news. I think Hyder only mentioned him once all night.

That's a sad reality that I struggle to live with on a daily basis. My sponsor constantly reminds me to "keep coming back, it works if you work it." It's cool, we’ll create our own stuff in the BHHC and maybe win that someday. :(

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Oh yeah, that was me, and I stand by it. Of course, it goes without saying how great Nate Shore and Jimmy LaLeggia are!

I figured as much...;)

Anyway...were you there? I would have said hi, but I didn't see you if you were. :)

Seriously, though, I moved seats to sit with an old friend for the 3rd because I was about to lose it if I had to listen to a loud-mouthed, know-nothing moron for even a portion of one more period. I mean, it's cool when someone isn't completely tuned in to the program but this dude practically made my ears bleed. #minirantisover #timetomoveon

I'm just glad no one seemed to get injured this past weekend, definitely didn't need that...though Larazza got up a little slow in the second after crashing into the end boards when a UBC player got whistled for the hit.

:D No, I couldn't make it. I'm hoping to get to the season opener, and four or five over the course of the season.

Last year I made it to more than I expected. Hopefully this year will go the same way.

Looks like a promotion for Bacher. Congrats to him.
