All Things Denver XXXII

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

I agree they are going to need 10 to 12 wins with only 14 games to go. That has to start with getting 4 points against BSU this weekend. They will probably have to win their first round WCHA series and 1 or 2 games in St. Paul to get in. The boys have their work cut out for themselves.

The season-ender with us might be for a lot of marbles, depending on how things play out. UNO hasn't been swept by anybody at home in the short Dean Blais era and not by anybody since '08-'09. National TV on the NBS Sports channel for the Friday, March 2nd game, I see.

You could be right. On the other hand, DU's got a long way to go before those games assume any significance.

To me, your schedule plays out pretty favorably. Home against BSU, Gophers, and whatever those guys in North Dakota are calling themselves these days, with a home and way with CC. Road trips to AA, Wisky, and here. If you are all that, that series here will be big.

This is a team that just lost an uninspired home game to the worst team in D1 (blowing a 2 goal lead in the process). Hardly calculated to generate a lot of confidence. We think they're better than that. But what WE think isn't really the issue. We're all hoping for a turn around and we may get it. But the confidence has been diminished a bit. The absense of Beau Bennett has really hurt. They're averaging about two goals per game more when he's in the lineup. And as good as Jussi has played in goal, we think Sam Brittain would have brought us another couple of wins. We surely hope you're right, that those last two games are significant. BTW, does Zesto's have a new location and are they open in the winter?

Per Gwoz in this week's press conference, Beau will not be back til late February. Hopefully, Makowski will be back this weekend. Sam and Ryder are hoping to be back by the end of January. The good news is Jay Z is back from from his short post WJC break in Vegas and will play this weekend. This is a must 4 point weekend for the boys.

To reinforce what Old Pio mentioned about Beau
Denver has averaged 4.4 goals per game with Beau Bennett in the lineup and only 2.67 gpg in 12 games without him. The Pioneers are 5-5-2 without their star forward.

Nice article on former Pio Tyler Ruegsegger in the Anchorage Daily News.

That's one of those things that out-of-towners do when they are here. Truth to tell, I've never set foot in the place. And, when you attend the CWS its **** near impossible to get near it.

Yeah, they will soon have a new location right near the new ballpark (TD Ameritrade Park).

Doesn't open until March, though. Will be year round. The old location is still open:

The bird people are up in arms about it, too. Hilarious:

Dunno about their hours at the old location.

It wasn't part of my regular routine either. Only during the CWS. Just part of the tradition, I guess.

So, the cavalry is coming and at the right time. Plenty of time for this team to get hot.

Is Murray back or is he still down? I didn't see him mentioned in du78's injury update yesterday.

Murray's back and played in last Saturday's win. Don't know who gets the start tonight. Could be Jussi or Murray.
